Ok so I'm nearing the stage where I'll be moving up to 25NL soon (17bi's atm).
On party there is no NL10 6 max tables, so I'm thinking should I learn 6max and start playing that or keep grinding out FR?
Long term what is best for me? Is there good traffic FR at say 100 or 200NL?
I've read plenty of threads regarding the differences I just want to know some pros/cons, ie. will 6max make my postflop play better etc.
off to 12 table with the weekend fishes~

if poker is dangerous to them i would rank sports betting as a Kodiak grizzly bear who smells blood after you just threw a javelin into his cub - RaiNKhAN

I'd recommend starting to experiment with 6-max and adapting to it. A great place to start the transition: Tien's thread (on the fundamentals of 6-max) |

If you enjoy only playing 11% of all your hands at max then stick with full ring :[
6ring is fun = more hands = more opportunities for fish to lose their money to you. do it nowwwwww |

everyone acting like six max is real poker and full ring isn't is very stupid.
in fact, you probably can't beat full ring because you can't adjust to modified table dynamics and i think less of anyone who solely plays one game. |

i started at full ring too, moved to 6max at 25nl and never played full ring since. you can play a lot more hands profitably so the games are looser and there's much more action so it's a lot more fun. also at mid/high stakes the majority of the tables are 6max so it's good to have a solid 6max game if you plan on playing high in the long term. |

One day good. One day bad. And some days, even hope

you're probably referring to me. fwiw i used to play limit full ring, pretty much exclusively.
and as far as adaptability goes, i think anyone that plays anything well knows how to "adapt" as that's simply a part of poker.
frankly i just think playing full ring is too boring because statistically you are folding more hands (which is debatable as you scale in stakes but he's still at micro you can't advocate anything much more loose than 11/9 or whatever at his level) and some people dont have the capability to play 12-16 tables etc. but like op said, theres pros and cons to both, and i'm not hating on full ring or anything. but you're right, if i were to step into a full ring table right now i probably won't be able to play as well simply because it is still a pretty significant difference that i wont be able to adjust to right off the bat. |

Thanks for replies.
I'm pretty sure I'll give it a go just it a go once I receive my license to PAHUD (just cleared bonus from affiliate). I'll see how I like it after that.
I've opened my game and I'm running at ~13/10 right now which feels a hell of a lot better/more profitable than my previous ~9/7.
I do plan playing long term, I'd be satisfied being a winning player at 200NL. How is the FR vs 6max traffic at that level?
Oh and the obvious question.. where is teh ez monies!? |
