G'Day-
So I remember there being a kid named 'G-Day' in middle school or high school or whatever. I always thought it was pretty odd for that to be the kid's nickname, seeing as his real name was Nick Manter, and he wasn't from Austrailia. Anyway I remember coming home for a thanksgiving during college and going through my local paper's 'Arrests + Incidents' section, probably the most popular of the West Hartford News. Reading along I came accross a blurb about an arrest for breaking and entering by a 20 year old male. Literally this was the context;
" Nick 'G-Day' Manter, 20, West Hartford, was arrested early Friday morning for breaking and entering the Hebrew Home Residence at 134 North Main Street at approximately 5 a.m. "
I remember thinking damn, the kid really made a name for himself, I never saw a kid's nickname in the 'Arrests & Incidents' section before. And the Hebrew Home? I guess I'll never know.
Anyway, I've been running well lately. My HU play is the best it's ever been. Gradually have been shifting away from HU SNG's to ring games. Made it to the round of 8 in the $20 256 HU tourney the other night. I'll edit this later and put the crippling hand to hear some feedback. Basically the hand was played so weird. I limped from the button with K2os. Villain checked. Flop comes K 3 5. I bet and am check raised. I noticed he was doing a lot of c/r with draws and not necessarily top pair/2 pair/set hands, though this range was certainly possible. ba<x>sed on that info, I called to see what developed on the turn. Off rolls a 4. He fires 2/3 pot. I ended up tanking on this one for quite some time and obviously put him on K3/K5/35/33/55 or 46, maybe air. I really think he is showing up with 46 over 50% of the time here though. I discounted every other King because he would have called my flop bet and raised/bet out on the turn ba<x>sed on previous play. With that, I called. A 3 rolled off on the river and the villain insta-shoved(his effective on turn was about size of pot). I think he had some magic button that had him all in before the card was dealt. And that's what confused that absolute monkey nuts out of me. I absolutely put him on 46 for a missed draw ba<x>sed on the insta-shove (he didn't have great sharkscope stats BTW) and called. He flips up K8 and its good. I really think he kinda turned it into a bluff on the river. Oh well. GG jayluf.
So we're moving up to 100NL. Current plan is to play the 215 HORSE, 320 HU, 500 NL, and 1K NL for the WCOOP. I'm going to have to look at my work schedule because I think I would like to get the Stud and possibly ME in as well.
Later kids.
