So I deposited $50 to ePassporte a few weeks ago, and finally it cleared (~2 weeks later) so I decided I would deposit it on Stars and grind some NL2. Turns out I run bad there. In a 1.6k session over 2 days I'm down. I've made my share of bad plays (where 1 c-bet turns into 2nd and 3rd bullets on the turn and river), but the ridiculous string of beats and coolers is kind of frustrating. I'm not one to tilt and complain, but I htink I just needed to rant a little bit. Several examples, so that I may reference them later:

http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/266635 Figured I'd raise because of the donk bet on the flop, maybe chase out a FD. Some good that did.
http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/266634 Oops, cooler.
http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/266633 In his defense, they were suited.

http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/266628 Saved the best for last.
Anyway, I understand that downswings and suckouts and coolers are part of the game, but it's a little frustrating when you feel like you can't even beat NL2.
Small sample size though, life and grinding will go on.

small sample size... have patience.
another thing you might like to remeber is the small hand small pot rule... if you have a vulnerable hand like top pair top kicker you want to try to keep the pot small by checking turn or by just flat calling villains bets... if you have a big hands like 666 you want to bet and re-rasie pot size at every opportunity and try to get all in. |

1 is played Bad ! FOLD KJ to a preflop raise unless you are a good player. ( you are not yet) bad play
2 standart cooler , nothing u can do
3 ALl in with an OESD is a bad bad idea most of the time. YOu have middle pair bad kicker and an OESD ... typical situation for a beginner to play it bad bad play
4 cooler ... nothing u can do
5 in his defense u played it bad ... preflop raise and check flop is not a good idea here. bet flop strong bet turn strong ( of course only when u get an A or a Q, since at this LImit even 2 barrel bluff is a bad idea)
if you still get action id not bet 1 $ into the river.
6 KK is not always a sure win ^^ sometimes u lose it ... you were 50-50 on the flop ...
7 LOL WTF 3 barrel bluff on NL 2 ... played horrible
SO maybe u dondt run good
but you also play some hands very bad.
remember when u dondt make money its mostly a combination of both
And of your 7 hands 2 were coolers 4 were played bad and 1 was nothing special.
there is lots of room for improvement
For beginners it is often not easy to see their own faults.
YOu make a bad play , but your opponent makes an even worse play ..
now beginners often think they get sucked out ...
No !!!! in the firts place you made that bad play
If you didnt u werent even invovled in this shitty situation where u got sucked out.
thats very important
On a side note :
Do not bluff below NL 25
never ever bluff at NL 5

most hands are standard, hand 1 raise/fold pre
hand 3:
preflop is marginal, but okay i guess.
Id advise not getting tricky at nl5 with draws, a lot of the value of pushing draws comes from fold equity, at nl5 you have close to 0 fold equity so unless your draw is a reall big combo draw its not worth it. you have to think that at least one of the other 2 players in the hand is on a spade flush draw (turns out both were but we cant assume that) so Ks and 8s are both not outs, so you've only got 8 outs including the jacks as outs (if one of them has a set they may not even be outs either) id probably just call his flop donkbet since hes giving you good odds and play it from there.
but in general stop bluffing since you cant make them fold
just value bet your strong hands big and shut down if u get called after ur cont bet when u miss.
apart from that yea you seem to be running below average but you can limit ur losses by fixing some major leaks

Looks like you are not a terrible player, so better switch to 6-max games, where you don't get coolers all the time. |
