Hey guys, my name is David. I'm 21 year old student from Czech Rep. Frankly I don't know how to start this very first post of another mindless boring poker blog. I can only tell you a little bit about me, my poker intentions and so on. Let’s get started.

Poker and me

I've always known there's card game called Poker, propably because I've seen Five-card draw in some movie. It didn't interest me at all. Anyway I'm interested in webdesign and one day I found this webdesign portofolio. I clicked on some image thumbnail and immediately saw this green-white website. It was a poker website. I think you're getting the picture. :D I learned little more about poker and it looked pretty interesting.

Long story short. Spring 07 - I started playing on i4poker with 5 euro from promotion. I played only freerolls, grinded it up to $30 and went to play NL10 FR (lowest stakes on Boss Media network). I built my bankroll up to $100 (now I know it was pretty lucky run).

So I had $100 and decided why not give tournament try. I chose $3000 guaranteed with $20+$2 buy-in. Weird thing is I was aware of my poor bankroll managment and yet I ignored everything I learned. However I finished second for $900. The luck of newbie, I suppose.

I moved up to NL25 and lost about $400, won about $200. It was upside down. Pretty wild sessions. I don't think it was a total donk play, I was just willing to sacrifice my whole stack on a coin-flip situations (ok it was a donk play) and of course sometimes it worked, sometimes it didn’t.

After few months of no progess I've decided I should either quit or dramatically change my approach. So I moved my bankroll to Stars, bought Poker tracker, signed up for cardrunners and lp.net. As for the poker - the main focus is to play as many hands as I can, discuss and analyze my play.

This whole thing will be some kind of log. Every sunday I'll write weekly review – basically I'll summarize my mistakes, founded leaks, improvements etc. Don't expect any whining or hot-run posts. Just this reviews.

Poker and university

Right now university is priority number one. I study electrical engineering and it requires a lot of home preparation and so on. That's why I can't play as many hands as I want to. I've always consider poker as a hobby and I still do. Maybe one day it will be my second source of income.

My goals

November:
- play 20k hands
- discuss hand on forums
- exploit leaks, improve my game (well I guess this is permanent one for everybody)

long term:
- build bankroll up to $4000 before the end of summer semester (7 months from now) and start playing NL100

My game on Stars

I've been playing on Stars for few days something like 13/10/3 (FR NL25), but it's small sample. It's pretty nitty, but I can't imagine myself playing 15/13 or more. I don't know what's optimal for these stakes.

I also can't decide between 9-max and 6-max. I feel much more comfortable on 9-max. So far I played FR only. I don't know how could switching to 6-max possibly influence my game and progress.

If you read the whole post I owe you an apology for boring story and my czenglish. First summary comming up on Sunday. Stay tuned.

Hi! So you're an electrical engineer too, eh?
Good luck for the poker!
