Haven't posted here in forever, will try to update a little more now that I'm on break for over a month.
Anyway, October was another sick month for me, November was rough, and now after cashing out a bunch and having a rough downswing to start the month in December my roll is in bad shape and I'm rebuilding at $1/$2. I played a hand last night that I thought was pretty interesting, so I posted it on 2+2, where I'm a semi-regular poster in the SSNL forums. Basically, I called in position 200 BBs deep w/ AxJs, flop was Ks2x5x, checked through, turn is As and I call IP, river is 7s, he checks, I bet for value, he check-raises, and now I shove as a bluff. Thought that was a pretty damn good play, considering the range I put him on, but wanted to check-up on it since I've been getting raped lately. Nobody likes it, which is fine, maybe I'm wrong, but God, no one there can think outside the box or at least make a substantial post refuting my argument. They all go by standard lines like "OMG, trying to push him off two pair (the most likely hand for him IMO) is such spew." without any reasoning. Now yeah, if stacks were shallow, trying to get him off two pair there is retarded. But this deep, the guy has to be worried about bigger hands than two pair, I have the Js which takes away from flush combos he can have, and he doesn't have AK because that guy would have c-bet it on the flop every single time. I laid out the math, laid out his range, showed that I thought he folded more than the 60% I need for a push to be +EV, and I get one or two sentence replies with no substance. And just for kicks, the guy folded and showed A7 for rivered two pair. LOL.

Maybe I'm missing something but your description of the hand show you made a flush on the river. |

No, I didn't have a flush, the 5 on the flop wasn't a spade. I put him on two pair. I knew he didn't have AK because he always c-bet the flop with top pair or better, so I thought he had A2, A5 or A7. I didn't think he had the flush because despite his wide raising range he wasn't raising mid-low SCs like 5s6s UTG, so other than QsTs there was no other flush he could have, and besides he was typically pretty passive with draws especially on the turn. So basically it came down to whether or not he would fold two pair to the river push, which based on his prior play I thought he would since we were so deep, and sure enough he did. The whole thread is basically OMG no one ever folds two pair EVAR. Well yeah guys, he did fold two pair (the best two pair he could have), so as long as he has two pair or worse 60% or more of the time (I think it's more like 75-95% given my read) my play was correct. |

Ye I've been a semi-regular there, but Im not reading that bullshit for last two-three months. Basicly a guy who was a huge regular told me that I shouldn't raise a donkbet IP with TPTK on semi-dry flop. Then I went like 'where do You play?' so he called me a donk etc etc:D whatever! lots I mean LOTS of guys posting then in SSNL are reallly really weak-tight players. Im basicly only reading liquidpoker, tlpoker and cardrunners ofc. |

erm you played that hand horribly, people just don't bet/fold 2p there enough.
Most ppl at ssnl suck at hand reading, and will be just like 'oh i have 2p call, cawwwl'
You got lucky you found someone who was either scared money, or able to read hands - and if you knew he was the sort of person who is likely to fold 2p when you shove the river, who the fuck cares about you posting the hand since its obv a brag post since you had a read it would work most of the time etc.
If you didn't have a read, its spew. |
