I recently started playing poker again. I always sucked and didn't have discipline to stick to one thing to improve before but now I wanted to change that. I committed myself to play 10k hands of 5nl FR without fooling around with SnG and other stuffs. I did just that and here are the results.
Anything wrong with my stats or that I need to fix on?
I was doing good on my first day then on second day, I drop to all time low. After losing about 2 buyins around 7000th hand I was pretty discouraged but I wanted to finish my 10k hands. I said to myself if I can't even up by end of 10k hands, I would just quit. I ran pretty well after that and ended up with $5.91 profit after 10k hands.
Some of the hands that screwed me up.

http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/376477 - I guess I shoulda shoved at the turn.
http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/376910 - Why am I making same mistakes and not shove at turn..
I have few questions though. I think it's kinda stupid question so I will just ask here and hopefully someone reads.
Is it bad to just have $5.91 profit after 10k hands?
How long(hands, days) does it 'usually' take for new players who start their bankroll with $50 to move on to the next level?
I was thinking of trying out 6max, what do you think?

Try switching to 3/4 bets instead of pot, might lower the variance a little bit. I'm not too sure, I just do what works for me, but yea, 5.91$ after 10k hands screams leaks. In the last 3-4 days I have played just under 8k hands at NL5 and am currently up $127.75. If you want to go over some more hands you can hit me up on aim, msn, or pm. |

one thing to add that no ones said yet: bankroll management is as important to a poker players success as playing the game itself, you probably shouldnt be playing NL5 with only $50, my advice would be using the 20 buy-in rule, so play NL2 until you reach $100, then play NL5 until you reach $200 etc. etc. if you've moved up and your BR drops to 15 buy-ins, analyze your big losses, drop down a level and work your way back up to 20 buyins before moving up again!
***edit***
my bad, you typed '5nl' and i didnt take notice of your hands yet, and you are playing 2nl... sorry .
as for the hands themselves, they seem pretty cooler-ish in general, you played them all fine i think. One thing i started doing at NL2 tho was raising to 10c +2c for each limper, rather then 8c, it just seems to protect your hand better against the fish who see the double digit bet and get scared and fold. |

I think winning $5 is ok if you are just starting out. When you get used to it, probably winning $40-50 over 10k hands is reasonable.
I don't think your stats are too bad. I think limping a lot at these limits with marginal hands from late position is ok at these stakes because you will get paid off when you hit, especially in multiway pots. When you move up though, limping is bad !
The hands you posted are really standard, I would never shove the turn in the third hand, you got max value out of the fish chasing the gutshot if he didnt hit. Also, you should win most of your money by value betting your good hands on the river, but it seems like you do that with your high river AF (maybe too much??). And yeah, don't be afraid to bet a bit bigger pf, especially with a few limpers ahead, one always calls no matter how much you bet. |

Sorry, I was told by someone 0.01/0.02 = 5nl because of 5dollar max buy in and 0.02/0.05 was 10nl.
Thanks everyone for the feedback! |
