if u risk $1 to win $2, and ur chances of winning is 50%

whats ur EV in terms of $

im not sure if its $0.50 or $1

currently i think its .50 because

50% * $2 = 1,
less 50% * $1 = .50

= .50

so if we flippin coins in this matter i think my EV is 50 cent, is that correct?

EDIT: Trying to find EV per flip if topic is a bit badly worded

i think your EV is 1$

you win: you have 2$
you lose: you have nothing

hence an EV (average) of 1$

I sometimes fold AA preflop to balance my range

you win $2 for every $1 you lose

your EV in terms fo $ is exactly $0.5 because you average 50 cent per flip

a quick formula I made up which should work for any case

Convert % to win to decimal eg. 50% = .5 // 83% = .83

ev($) = (% to win as decimal)*(return on win) - (% to lose as decimal)*(amount you lose each time)

quick example

risk 4 to win 5 80% of time we win

ev = 5(.8) - 4(.2) = 3.2

meaning each time we take this risk we mathematically win 3.2

Have you ever wondered which hurts the most: saying something and wishing you had not, or saying nothing, and wishing you had?
