Long time no talk...again. Let me just get this off my chest. Poker is not as much fun when you start running bad or you start losing money. When you aren't on an insane heater all month every month it turns into more of a grind and feels boring. With that said, my heater has slowed down a lot and almost at a stand still. Keeping that in mind I have done some revamping of my game which includes better table selection, playing heads up, and throwing in some MTTs every so often. This keeps me interested in poker and helps me stay focused on my longer term goal this year, which is to make 100k. We are about 3 1/2 months in and I am up to 20k so I need to step it the fuck up. I will be hitting SN sometime this month which I am looking forward to. Also, I have two vacations planned out this summer which should be a lot of fun. I am going to the Tampa region with a bunch of poker friends for a week of fun, and then in July I am going to Philly with the gf for a week of relaxation and historical sight seeing. Lately I have been seriously throwing around the idea of dropping out of college as I have lost all interest in it and the whole time I am there all I can think about is getting back to the grind! Other than that life has been good and poker is going semi decent this month. Looking forward to seeing you all at the tables!
Good luck
Austin

If u are consistantly winning 8k or so a month, I see no reason to be in school right now. Make sure and put some money is smart places. (Buy a house exc. exc.) Those universities will always be there. Also with the economic conditions as bad as they are many graduating students are having trouble finding a decent career opportunity. I dropped out after my freshman year back in 2000. Of all the people in my graduating class i can honestly say i live as comfortable as any of them and make more than at least 95% of them. This was before I even got into poker. Best advise I can lend is (Don't rent!) i bought a small condo when i turned 23 for like 90k.......about $600 per month. Lived in it for 3 years, leased for 1 year making about $100 per month and just sold it last week for $147,900. Take advantage of you winnings and good luck at the tables. Don't look back one day with nothing but stories to tell about how you used to kill it online! Unfortuantely this will be the case for many players who make poor decisions. |
