How do I tell if I have a 16: 9 or a 16:10 widescreen on my laptop? I can't seem to find it anywhere and I'm not sure exactly wtf they're asking (is it a ratio or just the inches?)
As far as size by inches goes my laptops screen is 14.5 horizontal and 9 vertical. Not sure where the 16: 9 or 16:10 comes into play. Diagonal (corner to corner) it is a little over 17 inches.
Halflife 2 keeps freaking out on me when I'm playing and I think maybe if I tell it the right screen setting it will fix the problem. My 3 options are:
normal 4:3
widescreen 16: 9
widescreen 16:10

Just divide the max resolution width by the height.
For example my monitor supports 1920x1200 so 1920/1200 = 1.6 which is 16:10 |

max resolution I have when I check display properties in windows or the max resolution they offer me in the game? |

Generally speaking, computer monitors are always 16x10 and widescreen TVs are 16x9. So a 24" computer monitor will have 1920x1200 resolution. A 1080p HDTV will have 1920x1080 resolution. |

It's probably 16:10, since thats the standard for most widescreen laptops and monitors. |

. So for every 16 inches across you get 9 inches down (or what we call "widescreen"
. Ditto for 16:10.
