Current car is on its last legs imo and time for an upgrade.
Looking to spend between 15-20k, taking out a small loan so I don't crush my roll.
Leaning heavily towards a ~2000 BMW 3 series, test drove a 318i the other night and they are nice as hell but I don't know if it was just the one I drove but it really lacked punch. 325's are generally hard to find around here too.
The one I test-drove.

go for a used infiniti g35 coupe, or a mazda rx8. if you don't really like sports coupes then the bmw 3 series is alright |

From a fellow australian, I would say grab either a VX or VY Commodore/Statesman. Alot of these US ballas wouldnt know wtf a Holden is, but for around 20k u could get like either a V8 SS or a nice V6 S or Statesman even. Alot nicer than that 2000 BMW which in a few years is gonna look real old, and the Japanese cars you mentioned which overall arent very comfortable inside or on the road, and really are just basic. Plus you will get tons of respect from mates driving around in a true Australian-made sports sedan. |

Hm BM318i kinda sucks from a sports point of view
looks good but only 115hp .... on 1,300KG weight.
no wonder it lacked punch >-<
thats not really a sports car.
when u want a cheap bmw go for either
323i with170hp
325i with 192hp
328i with 193hp

imo those 3 series look way too aged. The style just looks old. I would take the Accord or the 6. The 6 looks sexiest to me. However unless the Accord and the Mazda 6 have V6 engines they will leave more to be desired in the power department as well.
Also I'm sure you would grow into driving a manual and you would appreciate it whether you're into the whole sports car thing or not. Most people never look back, that is unless you drive in heavy traffic very often then it can just be a pain in the ass.
But seriously in the end you should pick the one you like. |

Yes, which also costs so much more to repair if you run into problems. |

This was hilarious. I work for Holden and even I don't give respect to them. VX and VY series look like crap compared to any of those cars he pictured. Plus a V8 with petrol at $1.60/L+ is retarded.
A VE on the other hand... |
