Ok, so I am new to LP, and first off, i would like to say that i love this place. I have only met great, friendly people, and everyone is there to help you not suck so much and tell you how they think you can improve.

I began my poker career playing cash games at .25/.50 in high school with 20 dollar buy ins. I sucked, but they were worst. When i first started playing, it was the "moneymaker era", he had just won the tournament in 2003 and Texas Hold'em was the thing to play. I downloaded Pstars (which i now refer to jewstars) and started hitting up the free money. Those guys are idiots and will do anything, as you know, because it's monopoly money. I was still about 16 years old and playing for real money, i was probably up about 200 total just playing on weekends. It was nice, and it paid for gas. Again, i still didn't really know what i was doing. For Christmas one year, i got a book about poker from my mother, Tom McEvoy "Hold'em" or something like that. I read it and it opened my eyes to a completely different game. Now i was dominating my friends who were still clueless. This lead to me wanting to play online for real money as well, figuring i could easily dominate people around the globe (later i would find out i was wrong).

I got away from poker for awhile, graduated highschool, went to college on a baseball scholarship, played in the dorm every now and then but it was hard because the cops would come in and bust up the game since it was illegal or some bullshit and confiscate our money... Anyway, Over the summer of 2007, i started playing at tournaments again for #10 buy in and my buddy's house. This was kinda stupid because we would have like 15 people playing and it would be 2nd gets their money back and 1st gets 140, plus the rules were kind of bogus and the blinds never went up. Needless to say, playing with a bunch of retards, i would usually finish 1st or 2nd, which i was happy with. Then, i was overcome by what i will call "winners crash". (I just realized this is the most god awful piece of crap paper i have ever written, sorry this is boring, usually i am an exciting person to talk to....) Anyway, playing with retards and seeing how they bet and taking teh moniez from them, i began to play very loose because i knew i could and win. I became an idiot, after being fairly decent for 3 years, and i had turned into the retard throwing the money at people like you guys! It's funny because i turned another guy onto poker, he is a fellow LP participant, and he brought me back out of my mental retardation. He taught me how to play poker again, and now i feel that i am better than ever.

Before, back when i was a stupid idiot throwing money around, i tried out the 'ole jewstars, and i got jewed, a lot. I would put like 20 bucks in, go to the .02nl holdem and try my luck. I would play hands like A8o and i would hit on a 3 8 10 board, and since no one raised or reraised my A 8 i would think i had the nuts. Who would call with a 10?? well fuckin everyone it seemed like. I got cooler'd out of a lot of hands, they would hit on the riv, and i would get jewed, a lot. This pissed me off, and i lose 70 bucks, (bought in with 20, 30, and another 20.) I it was no problem, and i would just stick to making money off live games, but thats when my buddy retaught me poker. I bought in with 30 bucks, played the .02 limit, grinded it out, made some money, got up to 100, made all my money back and decided it was time to move up the ladder of retards to the .05nl. This wasn't much of a change. The only difference was i had more money being thrown at me. It's quite easy when you just play premo hands. The only thing i would play were... Raise pp 10's or better, reraise AA KK AK AQ, just raise or call a raise with AJ, KQ. limp with PP 9-2. I had to be strict on myself. No longer was KJ a good hand. And all those times i was jewed when i lost my 70 bucks...shouldn't have been in the hand in the first place.

Anyway, grinded it out on the .05nl, got it up to 170, prematurely played the .10nl, and played tournaments looking for the quick fix win teh monies but it never happend. I tried to play .05nl again, rebuild the BR, but those idiots played everything and hit, Aces got cracked twice in one day by 93o to a raise...bunches of idiots. Thats when I went down to 110 at one point, floated around 110-130 for a while, had a bad beat, got pissed and went to .25/.50, thinking "you know what? i'm just going to go play the .25/.50, it's what i grew up on, i know how to play it." I bought in for 30 bucks, still pissed, and in the first 9 hands i got, in this order, 7's 4's 10's and AA. The 7's and 4's both tripped, and the 10's were higher than the board, so i won pots after the flop. This got me up to about 42 dollars, when on the 9th hand i got AA with a preflop all-in before my action, for like 4 bucks, i reraise, he reraises, i call, and the board is like 10 Q 3. I raise, he goes all in, has me covered, i call, scared shitless like "OMG HE HAS 10 Q WTF AM I DOING!?!?!?!?" I dodge on the turn and riv, guy who has me covered had KQo, and the idiot who went all in preflop for 4 dollars had J2s...(yeah i thought the play was better at .50nl...) Anyway, i took down an 82 something dollar pot, got back up to where i was previously, and left because my buddy was like "DUDE LEAVE THE ROOM, YOUR ACTING LIKE NEILLY PLAYING OUT OF YOUR BR GET THE FUCK OUT!!!!!!!" (No disrespect to neilly) and now i am dominating the .10nl again.

So far, i have turned 30 bucks into...#230.92, something i am very very proud of.
Well i only have 14 minutes of battery left, so my goal is... millionaire by the time i am 25. (i will be 21 in december). I think i can do it if i play enough. I am very busy working, going to school, and playing baseball, so it's hard to find time.

Here is mah graph of mah monies. Again, remember that i spent a lot on stupid tournaments, and i've won about 20 bucks on another guys puter so i couldn't upload the hands...

the part where you played out of your roll makes me doubt a little about you going millionaire in 4 years and a half from now, but good luck still

Quite honestly if you want to go places with baseball poker is semi out of the question because you'll never be able to log the hands you need to with baseball and school going on.

*edit
Unless your sick talented at either baseball or poker, but for every 1 of you theres 100 other people going for your spot that are just as good or better.

I dont remember anything from last night. all i know is, is that i woke up naked on my couch, with a piece of uncooked chicken on the stove. -Josh McLeodLast edit: 28/05/2008 23:45

since your title asks if it's realistic I'm gonna answer and say
no, your head is in the clouds, snap out of it
focus where you are now and two-three steps ahead of where you are not fifteen or thirty
I'm sayin this cuz your graph..
105 days 23k hands $240
I'm guessin you most likely one table and play like 200 to 300 hands a day
you will have about 1k at the end of this year if u keep goin at it exactly like you are now
but gl and keep up the good work

The probability of someone watching you is proportional to the stupidity of your action.

Oh I had not noticed that, well if he's getting coached properly, won't take long before he'll start multi tabling and puts in more hour, I mean I've played for 22 months and made a quarter of a million so far, this isn't impossible

what college are you playing at?

lachlan   Australia. May 29 2008 00:57. Posts 6991

well if your relatively good at poker u should be able to x ur roll by 1.9 every month give or take, as a very loose model

so $230 * 1.9^x = 1,000,000

works out to be 13 months to reach 1 mill

if you can times your roll by 1.9 for every month from now on, you will be a millionaire in 13 months time. of course it gets harder to double ur roll as u move up stakes and encounter far less fish, etc.

I play at a community college in Dallas called Northlake College. I was being recruited by the University of Nevada Las Vegas but it fell thru. I talked with the coach at William Penn University in Iowa the other day...so maybe that will work out. Other than that, i usually 6 table or about 2 hours a week... I'm hoping to play more since i'm out of school for the summer, but now i'm working full time and playing in tournaments in Houston and Oklahoma (baseball tournaments) every weekend. Maybe some lonely nights in the hotel i'll log on and take teh monies.

And the millionaire by 25...that also includes graduating with a masters in physical therapy and going into sports rehab. they make a good amount of money as well
