i really don't think building a bankroll should coincide with scratching off a living. how is that not going to affect the way you play? it seems getting a job means you can grind it out with so much less mental pressure.

i'll be lucky to make $10 an hour at a real job and my hourly at nl50 is something like 30-40/h

why would i want to willingly work a job? I realize i'm making myself look stupid with this statement because here I am, broke but this is what I looked at about a month ago when I made my decision.

I have the talent to play poker as a job and have the freedoms of getting paid to click buttons I don't wanna work a job if I don't have to... they're gay.

stop acting like you're special. i worked 50 hours a week while i built a bankroll because i wasn't a selfish lazy pussy.

and stop pretending like you're a winning poker player. winning poker players have bankrolls. people who spend their entire bankrolls are not winning poker players, they are fish that got lucky and hit and ran.

until you learn how to maintain funds, you are not a "winning poker player" or someone who makes "$40/hr grinding micros", rather those are things you could perhaps be.

I've been a winning poker player since i was 16, ive cashed out well over 15-20k and although my br has never been over 3k and im pretty sure I know that I didnt just get lucky for 3 years of my life.

i hate being the person i am in this thread right now so im going to quit

Nolan I don't have a bankroll and I am pretty sure i'm a winning poker player =D.

Also CrownRoyal I think something you didn't think about before you quit is that while it's true you'd only make 10$/hr at a regular job you'd be working 40 hrs/week and that'd be a definite income with 0 variance. Where as NL50 HU you'd probably play 20 hrs a week (that could be a stretch bc you've admitted yourself you're very lazy) and still have losing/breakeven weeks. Say all you want about how you've never lost over X amt. of time blah blah, Gigabet said it best when he said "at one point you will run worse than you've ever thought possible", and to expand on that it's going to keep happening to you until you stop taking beats so personally and thinking every downswing is the worst downswing you've ever had.

The point is if you really stick to grinding it out with good BR management, maybe switch to FTP where the games are softer and you can get RB (at least some definite income) and actually play the hours you need to play to make a living you could do this. Just remember you're not a high stakes balla b/c you play 50nl to pay the bills, you can't get by playing 20 hrs a week.

Let put this into calculation.

let say 17.5k you have made in 3 years. Im guessing on average you play 2hours a day. So you have played 2*365*3=2190 worth of poker.
17500/2190=8$ an hour, so you made 8$ an hour playing poker...
I think im way off on the calculation too but im just giving you the benefit of the doubt because i think you average more than 14hours a week.
I dont think you need to quit poker but i think getting a job and building a good solid roll for nl50 is better. Get a job for 2 months make 2-4k$ than you will have a good roll without crap too deal with.

You are a marginal winner at best crown because no poker player who averages 3ptbb/100hands will ever go busto. You overestimate your poker abilities and you really need a poker coach.
If i only made 17k/3years im quitting poker asap because wtf am i going to do with 5.5k a year.
