... is possibly finding out that all my "improvement" has been the result of variance, or worse, that I'm someone who just can't get past NL10... After making about $150 in 10K hands, I think I've given back about 5 buy ins in the last 5K hands (I haven't dared to look too closely!)
It's probably just bad for me because I only have time to play about 7 hours a week, so being down over about 3000 hands mean's I'm down for the week, which is a pretty depressing thought. Logically, of course, I know that it's a small sample size etc. etc. But then I am not a very logical person...
Thankfully, more and more of the hands I ask for advice on come back as being okay. Yesterday I also found that I was able to identify some players who play like me (cbet a lot, try to steal blinds, open up in late position etc.) and do all the things to them I hate people doing to me (floating, raising their cbets, 3 betting light PF etc.) So that's something, at least.
Occasionally I'll come up against some annoying player with a huge calling range who keeps bluffing me out of pots and I have no idea when to keep going with ace high. But maybe now's not the time to deal with that yet and I should just switch tables.
God, I hope I don't end up at NL5 for the rest of my life!
(pay no attention to me, I'm just griping illogically!)
