now that it's summer and I don't have anything else to do except work, I've been playing about 1k hands a day. I'm back at nl10, feeling good and hoping to be at nl25 within a month or so. don't think that's too lofty of a goal. been working 6am to 2:30pm on weekdays and 5am to 9am on weekends. I feel really pathetic going to bed at like 11 at the latest every night, but I'm making good money maintaining the golf course. anyway, I have a couple hands that I could use some advice on. figured I'd put them in here rather than flood the forums.

I never know what to do when I've been betting overpairs down multiple streets and then a higher card hits on the river. maybe I overplay them too much.

similarly, I feel like I overvalue top pair too much. I didn't know what to do in this hand either

stop being out of position all the time. That really sucks. Also, the AK hand is probably just a flat on the turn. It's like 439257689236426 way and people do slowplay.

so basically if a overcard comes u ll always give up ur hand? wtf s with that?
@ that AK hand i ll prolly fold 70% of the time depending on the stats of opponent really
a donk would almost always play a 5 like that try to get a bit on turn then a guy raises him and the donks eyes just start glowing from happiness and then they lead shove on river coz they r afraid they wont get paid off otherwise

& u raise like a wuss ... if r gonna raise -> raise 4bb+1bb x each limper otherwise u lose so much value and also many retarded hands will pay u off when u raise .30c with 3 limpers in front .. u basically make the pot 75c with 20c to call for limpers and 30 for other donks.... uncool

nah I didn't give up those hands, I just don't know how much to bet, what to do if there's a big raise, etc. I didn't post results cause I wanted opinions on how you would play them. interesting though, I didn't realize I wasn't raising enough preflop. I thought 3x bb was pretty standard, but it should really be 4x or more?

I thought a decent rule was 4xbb + 1xbb per limper or 3xbb depending on if you feel you can outplay them postflop. Either way, that means you're not raising your good hands enough.

Yep, on NL10, I would really go for 4xBB+1xBB per limper.

On the rivers of all these pairs where an overcard drops:

Just look carefully to the board on the flop and turn to decide with what kind of hands they could have called with, and think about whether theres anything you still could get value from (like a toppair+lower kicker), if not c/c is almost always optimal. And don't be too afraid, It does not happen so often that someone hits their 3 outer. Aggression factors also are very important, obviously.
