3) John was offered, and refused, "early release." Many of us were given this offer. It meant speaking out against your country and lying about your treatment to the press. You had to "admit" that the U.S. was criminal and that our treatment was "lenient and humane." So I, like numerous others, refused the offer. This was obviously something none of us could accept. Besides, we were bound by our service regulations, Geneva Conventions and loyalties to refuse early release until all the POW's were released, with the sick and wounded going first.

I furthermore believe that having been a POW is no special qualification for being President of the United States. The two jobs are not the same, and POW experience is not, in my opinion, something I would look for in a presidential candidate.

That was a good article. Really puts McCain's highly touted POW experience into perspective.
I believe McCain really did cheat during that debate. When he answered Warren's question about teachers getting paid based on merit and he said "yes, yes, find bad teachers another job" before Warren even asked and then they (Warren and McCain) tried to cover it up by laughing and joking is clearly proof that someone told him at least the answers to that question.

Well he COULD have cheated, there's no doubt about that. He was in a car for the beginning of Obama's time on stage, then in a green room. If he wasn't listening to the radio in the car, mccain people could easily be in the audience and txt the answers to the entourage who was with mccain in the car/green room. So yeah he could have. Whether he did or not, I dunno. But I do think you make an interesting point, cause at times I did feel like he was answering Q's before they were asked. Who knows, maybe he's just intuitive.

the guy writing this article makes valid points about McCain for president, but his discussion about McCain as a POW make him sound like a jealous tool.

The main point I agree with is that POW experience doesn't qualify you for president. The annoying thing is that whenever you say that all the right wing crazies start screaming that "YOU DON'T KNOW WHAT HE WENT THROUGH" kinda like the way Sean Hannity said it was OK for McCain to cheat on his wife because he had just been in a POW camp for 5 years, lolz.
So anyway, when another POW says the same shit it kinda kills that right wing insanity.

That could be true but his "yes, yes" answer makes me think that he seemed to know how many different questions would be posed to him before Warren got around to asking his lead-in question for McCain. It's all just speculation but it's crazy how McCain gets to play by his own rules and I haven't heard any explanation why he was 30 minutes late to the debate even if he was going second, his campaign should've known the rules.

nice article
also, agreed on the possibility that the debate was rigged, unless it comes out that obama knew what questions would be asked as well.
