Playmoney experience into money?

I've been doing semi-decent on playmoney on pstars.

Question is how much will playmoney benefit real money games in poker? From my experience 1/2, 5/10 NLHE tables for playmoney are not even close of an accurate representation of any money tables as far as I know (although I never did a money table.) Most people will call every game, and large bets won't really scare people off.

Unless micro stakes is played like that, I really don't think that it is good to get in the playing habit with the 1/2 and 5/10 NLHE playmoney tables. However if anyone here has any experience with the 100/200 NLHE table with playmoney, can anyone tell me if this is close to any table in real money? I notice people tend to play more tight, and fold preflop a lot instead of calling every single bet made. I browse this forum frequently so I know a bit about the low stakes poker (since that is the main forum I frequent) but to be honest I've never touched a money table so I can't say.

My hope was that maybe 100/200 playmoney table can give me a bit of practice and an edge for when time comes to play real money (in about... 2 and a half months). Is it better to just wait until I play for real money in the possible situation that playmoney tables aren't valid practice?

Any input/thoughts appreciated.

dont waste ur time playing that. if u plan on playing it to sell your 8907234908237904million for some real cash to grind in real money tables its fine. experience in playmoney is totally shit in real money tables.

I told you a billion times already, if u want to quickly get 1-2 million don't play anything except for AA or KK and just go all-in preflop. You'll get 5-6 callers and get lot more. Then sell that for like $20 and start playing 1c/2c and start learning REAL poker

I realize that it isn't going to be an accurate representation of real money.

But how many of you have played play money enough to know how much it actually can relate to real money tables? It is hard to imagine that anyone playing for real money would ever go back (or go for the first time) to playmoney tables, so I'm just looking for someone who kind of knows both sides of the story. I'm not disregarding anyone's post, I'm just curious as to who actually played/plays playmoney recently as well as real money tables.

And SugoGosu I've took your advice which works pretty damn good on 1/2 and 5/10 tables but 100/200 works a lot differently for some reason. That is just why I question how much it really relates to real money since 100/200 is way way different than 1/2 and 5/10.

You'll learn the rules, consider that as the lesson. You might wanna try to pay attention to stuff like position, but you ain't really gonna learn the game there, no.

For the people who think playmoney isn't a good way of practice.

Do you suggest I should be watching money tables?
And should I be focusing on the tables I will be playing? ($0.01/$0.02) Or should I be watching higher stakes?

believe me, play money is an extreme joke

the difference is too huge, playing that for 2 months is just going to make you WORSE. u might learn how to beat really bad players but u will have no idea how to beat good players.

i could just lend you $5 and u can pay me back whatever. and u can just slowly grind the nl1 tables
it would help u 1000x more

I really appreciate it although my parents pretty much told me they are going to murder me in my sleep if they find me playing poker for money. This is why I'm waiting until I'm 18 so they can't really do shit about it. I would be playing for money right now if I was sure that it was fool-proof but I know that Pokerstars may contact you - and if they give up a phone call to my house I'll be hanging on the wash line next to my mom's thong.

Its worthwhile to play playmoney, you learn how to beat total calling stations by vbetting thin and bombing it hard when you have the nuts. you'll get a taste of the extreme swingyness of poker, and you can start practicing bankroll management. and you can still look over your hands and figure the optimal play to get max value

they don't contact u if u transfer money. I did it when i was 17, never looked back
