it's definitely reasonable to be happier about this new form of campaigning than the old one, because the old one pretended to inform the public as a means of persuading them while at least the new one is considerably more honest and just involves outright bashing of the other candidate
bill kristol is talking about what strategy gives conservatives the best chance of winning, and i'm surprised that you don't support him at least in principle since you've been involved in heavy political smearing the entire time you've been creating a partisan political blog.
beyond that, bill kristol is basically right in his premise that US voters would be completely in the dark if the two candidates discussed their political policies in terms of their pros and cons. even with your intense political activism all you could post in response to my short commentary on the health care issue was obama's talking points. talking points which really provide very little insight into what obama's plan actually entails. beyond that, you also mistook very basic comments on the socialism - capitalism spectrum and formed your entire argument on normative grounds without any serious reference to the average voter's reality.
that being what it is, it shouldn't shock you that the candidates have very little incentive to actually discuss issues in order to win votes because most of the US electorate is far less informed than you are.
both candidates represent a lot of evils and we as americans are only reaping the fruits of our ignorance
