The Afghanistan section is a few minutes in and it's some of the craziest footage I've seen in a while. Totally worth checking out:

<iframe height="339" width="425" src="http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/22425001/vp/27313936#27313936" frameborder="0" scrolling="no"></iframe>

This lays out one of the huge reasons we never should have gone to Iraq - because we weren't done in Afghanistan! That's where Bin laden and Al Queada were hiding out and we should have gone in strong and finished em off. Then we should have stayed and focused on rebuilding the country with infrastructure and schools so that they could thrive without being forced to fall back on drug dealing. We needed to help them develop a peace keeping force that could prevent any resurgence from the Taliban, and THEN we could leave. Instead we just left a handful of troops there and allowed bin laden to escape and Al Queada to regroup and rebuild while we fucked around in Iraq for NO GOOD REASON! All our resources have been sent to Iraq so now our troops in Afghanistan are sitting there without the proper support they need.

So messed up. So very messed up.

Funny thing is now there are Al Queada supporters basically endorsing McCain... I'm sure John doesn't want their support but their reasons for it are revealing. The reasons they want McCain to be president are the reasons I think that he has the wrong approach on the war:

WASHINGTON — Al-Qaida supporters suggested in a Web site message this week they would welcome a pre-election terror attack on the U.S. as a way to usher in a McCain presidency.

The message, posted Monday on the password-protected al-Hesbah Web site, said if al-Qaida wants to exhaust the United States militarily and economically, "impetuous" Republican presidential candidate Sen. John McCain is the better choice because he is more likely to continue the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan.

"This requires presence of an impetuous American leader such as McCain, who pledged to continue the war till the last American soldier," the message said. "Then, al-Qaida will have to support McCain in the coming elections so that he continues the failing march of his predecessor, Bush."

On another level, I just wanna say I'm disappointed cause I made a post yesterday asking people to educate me on the "other side" that I'm so often accused of leaving out, but no one gave me any new info (or accurate info). Skot I was especially expecting you to have something cause you're a smart guy who seems to be very down the middle on issues. I'm gonna assume you just didn't read the blog yesterday and that's why. Anyway, if you missed it plz scroll down to the "Demonizing McCain" post and educate me in the comments there. I am not trying to be a dick or start a fight, I honestly want to hear what the "other side" is that I keep neglecting to post about. Thanks to anyone who takes the time to do that =)

And luckbox posted this in 84o's blog and it was so damn funny that I gotta repost it here so I can find it later:

for the recorded when I posted that, I was drunk but i dont really disagree with it. Im not saying that liberals are just as bad as conservatives, but on the internet liberals have a huge majority favor and are plenty assholes.

Also, just curious, what about that clip is crazy, regarding the army base? Looked like maybe a typical firebase in the mountains of Afghanistan. That place is by no means near the most dangerous part of afghanistan. Sure they may be in firefights every day, but I'd be pretty surprised if anyone has died there. I agree with you about afghanistan though, we really do need more troops there, especially from the NCOs ive talked to. AQI(al queada in Iraq) is actually a very small part of the insurgency. In any case, regarding the failing weapons in the clip. The "240"(m-240, aka "Saw" the guy was talking about is a pretty notoriously jamming gun. Im sure they have a ready supply of M16a2s, probably even m16a4s.

I know what a SAW is, I've played enough AA and been enough of a war junkie (who never wants to go to war) to know the basics ^^

I guess the crazy part was that the last few years, especially through news coverage, there's a feeling that troops are just chilling in afghanistan doing minimal police like work. The idea that they're in constant firefights like that is very different from the mainstream perception, at least to me. And I just feel like shit knowing that those guys are up on top of some mountain in the middle of nowhere without the support they need when they could have had it if we hadn't fucked up with going to Iraq. Obviously I want em to be able to come home and be out of the shit completely and the sooner the better, and I'm extremely grateful that they're risking their necks for me. It kinda reminds me of that lions for lambs movie and gives the perspective that these aren't just statistics, but they're people, and it's extremely important that we aren't just making political decisions from the hip or gut that will put them in harms way without great reasons and a good plan.

Meh, I'm rambling now.

I hope I'm not one of those assholes =)

I'm not saying that there aren't out of line liberals. I definitely agree with that. But I just wanted some concrete examples of where I'd posted one side of the issue and totally ignored the other side, especially in cases where the other side was equal or worse.

It's funny cause I have lot's of super liberal friends and lots of super conservative friends. When I hang out with the liberals I feel like a conservative cause my views are right of theirs, and when I'm around conservatives I feel like a Liberal cause my views are left of theirs. But I guess I'm a little more left cause middle people like skot say I'm a liberal, lolz
