I just started playing a little over a month ago, and right now I'm at NL10 on PS. I've been playing mostly full ring cash games, and I'm wondering if that's really the best way to go. It seems like a majority of people on this site play 6 max- why is that? What are the advantages of full ring vs. 6 max vs heads up vs tournaments? Alternatively, should I look at playing some other games like Omaha or 5 card draw?

It all depends on what you want to do. If you play a somewhat more conservative game of poker and want less variance, go for FR.
If you love being aggressive and don't mind the swings, by all means go for 6max.
If you love the rush of a tourney and don't mind those swings (which are larger still then 6max), then go for the tourneys.

As for omaha/other games; I'd suggest you get your hold em game on track first, as an ABC Hold Em game will always help in your understanding of new games.

so, would you say that tourneys and 6 max favor aggressive players/ whereas FR favors less aggressive players?

I suggest that you just play what you enjoy the most. All those are a little bit diffrent and require a little diffrent approach.

Anyways it is true that in a way shorthanded games are better for aggresive players as they force players to make marginal moves when struggling for the ante so you get to shove 55 preflop a lot (btw this is obv only true when solid regulars play, dont try that at nl25). However I dislike the idea that you play always the same style and then find a game suitable (probably not what artanis meant anyways), strong players play the style that beats the game they want to beat~ (like bruce lee wrote, your style should be a formless form!)

omaha can be good pick, Ive heard action is better there (not like it wouldnt be pretty fucking good at NLHE) so try that too.

Damn I tried to shove my 55 and he called with 66

Just kidding. Anyway yeah I guess I'll just try out the different games and see which I like best. By Stud hi i guess you mean 7 card stud hi low?

I dont think it was an advice. I stated a fact that in shorthanded games you "get" to make more moves preflop and play looser in general. I don't know how you could it understand it that way but no, I wasn't telling him to always shove 55pre in 6 max games.
