Morning all. 4 days till the election. If you're still undecided, I think this guy lays it all out pretty well in this vid:
Also check out this video about an Obama volunteer in Boulder, CO. I grew up in Boulder and my dad still lives there. I live about 30 minutes away now. This vid gives a sense of the feeling I was talking about in the comments the other day of such a positive energy coming from the amazing people I've met while working on the Obama campaign.
Don't forget to vote guys! If you have early voting in your state then go today! You can find out @ http://www.voteforchange.com/

I'll agree that they aren't laying out negatives on obama's side, but the overall arguments stand up imo. When you compare Obama's experience (as he listed) as a leader vs palins (and I don't think they missed much) it seems pretty clear to me. I also think it's extremely annoying when people try to say Obama isn't a christian when he's a fucking exemplary one (goes to church, faithful marriage, teaching his children about jesus). But McCain gets to cheat on his wife and he's the "good christian" and Obama is the muslim? wtf right.

Seeing as there is supposed to be a separation of church and state as guaranteed by the constitution, i do not think the religion of either candidate should be of issue. Unfortunately it is. I miss the days of the republican party being made up of old white rich men who would protect your money. Republics used to be for less government. Now the Republican party is basically the representation of bible thumping Jesus lovers and it makes me sick.
I personally am very torn as to who I am going to vote for. I want to vote for Obama in a way, I think he comes off as being very presidential. He is obviously extremely bright and in many cases I support the social policies he is for. However I am worried I can not afford to vote for him. I went to college and work long hours and very hard to live decently in a suburb of New York City. I think it is disgusting to think he is the more likely candidate to raise my taxes and give money to those people who earn less than me because they do not work as hard or do not have the same drive that I have. If every individual in this country is to be treated equally, then how can we quantify punishing those who have worked harded and thus had greater financial success in this country and that is my greatest fear if Obama is elected. I am also against socialized health care fwiw.
At the same time, McCain's first major decision while running for office was to chose Sarah Palin as his running mate. She is just a joke and the fact that she will be VP if he wins is also a pretty shitty scenario. We also do not need any more conservative judges appointed to any high ranking court.
All in all, it saddens me to think these two candidates are the best America can offer and at the end of the day there is a fair chance I will vote for a third party in hopes that one day a legitimate third party that truly represents the majority of Americans who are more republican witth their money and more democratic socially will arise. As of now, I find both candidates to really be lacking.
One more thing I would like to point out is that I work in New York City every day. I take a bus into Port Authority and every day I see these fat black woman with weaves and huge fake gold earrings with their names in them walking past me on my walk to east 42nd street. People like this are wearing Obama buttons and sometimes I am tempted to walk up to one of these people and ask them to tell me one thing Obama stands for because I would bet money most of these people have no clue. They are for Obama because he is 50% African American. Then I think to myself, do people such as this really support the same things I do, can I really vote the same way they do and will the candidate we both possibly vote for really have both of our interests in mind....
god damn Rabinowitz luck...

Very well said. I totally agree with you on this. I actually like old school republicans quite a bit. Disagree with them on a few issues, but agree on a lot.

I don't know if that's true. How much do you make? If you make less than 250k a year you won't have any increase. If you make less than 200k a year you will get a tax break. If you are under 150k a year you get a bigger tax break under Obama than McCain.
If you make over 250k, then you will only get an increased tax rate on the money OVER 250k. So if you report 260k you will only pay increased taxes on 10k. It would be a 3% increase, so we're talking an extra $300 in taxes under Obama.
So the way it breaks down is:
Under 150K = big tax cut
150k - 200k = Tax cut
200k - 250k = Taxes don't change
250k - 337k = Minor tax increase (3% on money over 250k)
337k and above = Tax increase (4.6% on money over 337k)

Totally agree with you. This either shows that he has horrible judgement or he is bending to the will of the far right. Either option is not good. It was a horrible choice and the idea of her being 1 heartbeat away from the presidency is terrifying.

yeah I hate people who vote for Obama cause he's black or against Obama cause he's black - those types of people are idiots on both sides of the aisle. I'm sorry you haven't met any of the people who really believe in Obama cause I think you'd find that we share a lot of the same views as you. I have a lot of friends who live in the city and I used to go there about 4 times a year at least. I would go up to massachusetes on the peter pan bus outta port authority a lot too, heh, so I know what you're talking about cause I've seen the same types of people. But rest assured you'd be joining a bunch of good people if you voted for Obama, not just people who want to support a black man.
Anyway, I may be wrong but I think you probably are not going to have any tax increases under Obama so I hope that puts your mind at ease in regards to your first point. =)
