i was registerin for classes today and pretty much all the classes suck and so do all the professors suck. i am accounting major and somehow all the accounting classes has been filled or have weird schedules or shitty teachers, mostly all full. not to mention next semester there's not even that much courses compared to few semesters ago. that sealed the fate for my school career in the intermidiate term.

i dont know whats happening. seems like less professors are teaching next semester or something. and people might be switchin from biz major to accountin because courses usually dont fill this fast for advanced level courses. (shitty economic condition and future for biz majors)

i'm pretty hooked into the stock market now so i guess i'll have plenty of time to focus on that now. and not to mention a ton of pokerrrrrrrrrr.

so far im really excited on the free time i will be getting.

any comments appreciated.

im only 20 y/o, im planning to accumulate more $ before moving out. so far im really happy now. convinced my parents that school sucks and i either take many semesters off or i dropping out.

brag: on track for a 200k$ year and i barely even spend much at all. but im prepared to pay my taxes
brag#2: 3.6 gpa
beat: played over 900k+ hand this year, prolly will get it up to 1 mil hands after i finish finals, but Joeingram1 made it look like nothing.

200K from poker this year? sick

I don't think dropping out is a huge deal honestly. You're very young, so you could always go back to school, and you're making 6 figures from poker, so it's all good.

You drastically a) undervalue your education and b) the difficulty of going back once you leave.

i remember really get into it first semester of college, so i guess ~2 years... i dont think the amount of time matters. its more about how many hands u played and that correlates to how much experience u get.

i think i prolly played 1.5mil hands

the point of b, i dont really understand that much except the situation when people start a family

i think people are a lot smarter as they get older and therefore able to get through college easier.

i'm pretty sure the peak of your mental ability is at age 25 and it's downhill from there

i'd imagine its like taking a break from anything else. studying and stuff is harder once youve been away from it for a while.

at 200k/yr school is really not that important. However, do not be afraid of taking some classes (eg. Philosophy) for personal enrichment purposes.

gj on poker.

i think this is a very short-sided move and i think you should consider to take classes atleast part time

The older you get the more difficult it is to learn just a fact of life therefor the older you are the more difficult it is regardless of how smart you may be. The only advantage is you have a lot more life experience, but really how much is that going to help you if you are trying to learn something completely new to you?

Sick congrats on your $$ year man.

I recently graduated as an accounting major as well and it was no easy task (wasn't the smartest student). I was lucky to find a great accounting career post graduation. I'd have to agree with everyone else that college doesnt get too much easier as you get older. I'm going for my CPA and I'm assuming you would to if you go back to school and it is just tough getting back to the "swing" of things studying and preparing for 4 exams. (CPA exam is 4 parts obviously)

I feel you about the lack of good professors. Accounting can be a dry subject and with horrible professors it doesn't make it any easier. A good professor that can interact and apply the material to real world situations makes the subject a lot more interesting. Anyway, good luck to you and your future!

I don't know you, but as someone who works in equities I can tell you can't ever get a job anywhere near any size pile of assets without a solid college track record. I would go back immediately if stock picking interests you as more than a personal hobby. If poker is what you want to do then go for it. GL.

Edit: Also kind of matters how good your school is. If you just dropped out of Harvard to play poker it's probably a bad idea, but (no offense) most schools that offer accounting majors probably aren't worth giving up 200k+ a year in poker earnings to attend. So this is probably a good move. Hope I don;t come off as rude; I though I could offer some insight into the hiring reqs at assets management shops.
