getting a desktop

i want a desktop so i can do dual monitors for school/poker, mainly poker. i dont need to play crysis or do any graphics work

canada computers is pretty sweet. good deals on monitors as well

they have stores all across ON, so ye u should be able to pick up irl. I just built a system for < 500$. There should be one in TO as well.

looks good. I would also recommend to buy a good power supply. Enermax or antec and make it like 600w. Also, I would recommend buying 2 good hardrives and set them up in raid. Will make your system run much faster, and is not that expensive.

the gfx card says it req's 400W
any benefit in going to 500 or 600W?

can't you get a docking station for your laptop and connect dual monitors to that?

I have seen a lot of instability in systems due to cheap power supplies. 400w is probably enough, but in any case I would recommend going with a quality power supply. On the other hand the price difference between a 400w and a 600w quality power supply is probably not that big, and is something u will be able to use on your next system in the future, when its time to upgrade again.

Clearly get more Watts if you want to use all those devices...
400W is not enough and it'll be even worse later. Hell that's what i got 6 years ago and still running with it. So i can't imagine with today's devices getting more and more supply...

i have a sony SZ
i got the docking station but it doesnt allow dual monitors
can i do dual without a desktop?
