I'm playing 0.01/0.02 right now, played a bit in 0.02/0.05 but down too much to even commit myself to that. Started with $25 and overall I played good, getting to $30 pretty fast but then making some seriously dumb mistakes which took me all the way down to $6. Well, slowly and carefully I'm climbing the ladder and am brushing the $10 mark, going to get my $25 back. But the thing I just want some advice/input on is I've been doing 6-Max tables. Is this bad to start on?

I've been reading and trying to learn how to play, and I don't know if 6 max is where I should start. What should be the deciding factor whether I do 6 max or not? Also is $3 (Standard buyin for 0.01/0.02) be what I bring in? I see an awful lot of people coming in with only $1. Any input/etc be appreciated.

Buy in for 100 big blinds ($2). Don't move up to 0.02/0.05 until you have at least $100, swings can be rough even if you're playing well. 6 Max is a great game to learn on, just make sure to play tight preflop and be aware of position and you'll do fine. GL.

I'd recommend you play whatever you enjoy more. FR and 6-max are both suitable for beginners, so its all about what you like better.

I prefer FR for NL2 and NL5 because I feel there's less variance for a new player. Easier to learn the basics there and not get spewy. Then when you feel you got the basics down, you should check if you prefer 6max or FR at NL5/NL10.

Oh and about the buy-in, as Sicks Macks said, always buy in for 100BB and try to get tables with as much 80-100BB+ stacks as possible.
