Today I turned on CNN and there was this huge debate on whether or not Public breast feeding was OK.
I don't even understand how there is any argument. I find it very bizarre the human culture has developed to a point where people are so ashamed/afraid of the way we were all born. Almost every "civilized" society has rules regarding the covering of ones' body, certain societies take it to huge extremes to the point where public nudity would get one a death sentence. It's hard to imagine we live in a world where presenting yourself in the manner with which you came into this world would get you taken out of it.
Even in the United States, you can go to jail for being nude. Imprisoned for not wearing clothing. As far as I'm concerned, whether you're a religious person or an evolutionist, it should be understood that God/Evolution created you without clothing, so why the big deal about it?
Obviously I appreciate clothing as they keep me warm and make me look cool, but I have just always found it odd that society has this bizarre preoccupation with nudity. I was watching this documentary where this Muslim guy was talking about how he loves religion and saying that we need it else our women would all be walking around "dressed like whores." This is an interesting theory of course, but it makes me wonder, do they not recognize that Allah, God, or whoever made man naked? If he wanted us to wear clothing perhaps it should grown on trees?
I've brought this up with some people and usually get a response of "WHAT YOU WANT PERVERTS WALKING AROUND FLASHING PEOPLE ALL THE TIME?" or, re: breastfeeding "YEAH WELL PEOPLE NEED TO WHACK OFF TOO BUT THEY DONT HAVE TO DO IT IN PUBLIC" (this might actually be a fair argument).
Obviously, I don't want perverts running around with their wangs flapping in the breeze, and I think it's nice that people generally prefer to be clothed, but rather I wonder what it is that makes it now seem "normal" for societies to have rules punishing people for having their bodies exposed within eyesight of others.
Anyone else ever find this weird? Or am I a huge pervert freak?

i woudln't mind hot woman walking naked, but other than that nudity isn't too welcomed.
Breast feeding is on the line, but still it needs some privacy and feeding in a public would cause others feel unfomforatble. I understand what are you talking about, just over years our world developed some 'standards' which acceptable by most. But when it comes to muslims or w/e is that religion which forces women to wear dark clothes is just fucking stupid and def shoudln't be acceptable in 21 century :/ |

I don't find it weird at all. When Adam and Eve were in the garden and they ate the apple it says the realized then they were naked and they felt shame. Thats why they covered themselves up with figleaves. Yes we were born naked and that is natural but it is also natural at least in certain contexts to feel a little shame when seeing someone else naked. Nudity in secluded areas like a nude beach are fine by me but not in everyday life. |

I fully agree it's just plain dumb how far society has gotten to a women can't breast feed a baby in public w/o being looked down on. Come on she's literally just feeding her baby naturally, wtf is the big deal.
A bit off topic Adam and Eve didn't eat an apple for two reasons. 1: they wern't real, 2: bible never says they ate an apple, says they ate a fruit. |

it may be illogical, but it's just how we've evolved. It's really shocking for most people to be naked or see someone else naked, and the laws are there to protect them. |

Don't be kidding with your law... It SHOULD feel logical to see someone naked. It just shows how immature we are if we instantly think of perveted thing by seing a breast. If you were to have a child in the future would you still say to your wife to make it private ? Of course not. Same goes for the childs or teens, because it's just nature. If we don't show it then they'll obviously feel ashamed in the future. |

I think all hot girls should be allowed to show as much as they feel appropriate, but ugly ones should be fined. Of course there should be some sort of jury for this and I guess governments already have enough on their minds. |

i don't see how breast feeding is "on the border line". it should definitely be allowed in public, i can't see any reason not to. |

I think you make sense. I have thought about how weird it is that we've strayed so far from what's natural, and especially the extremes where showing any skin gets a woman stoned to death (ok maybe that's not the rule but it's something pretty big like that). I'm with you in that I don't want everyone walking around naked, but at the same time I don't think there's anything "wrong" with public nudity, especially in the case of things like breastfeeding. Public sex does become perverted though. |

It's simple enough.
1) Nudity should be frowned upon. It's cool that people wear clothes.
2) You are seriously fucked up if you think imprisoning people for nudity is a good thing. Or even a fine.
There's some things that's best left to morals rather than law. |

should dogs be ashamed of themselves?
morality is a weird thing, there were villages in africa where the parents had sex shamelessly in the same room with their kids, that was before christianity got there.Wilhelm Reich's books on sexuality are very interesting on the subject. |

What if you were the baby... how would you feel if you weren't allowed to eat in public? How has society come to see such a thing as perverted?
It's nothing like whacking off in public lol.
People are strange. |
