So since my epic fail at the NL200 shot (rofl -5bi variance'd over 1k hands), and coupled with a bit of running bad at NL100, my confidence is totally shot.

I was talking with some people on aim/msn and figured the best idea would be to temporarily move down to something like NL50, stomp on some people, and then come back up.

I'm going to go one step further though; I'm going to withdraw a little over 1k from my Stars bankroll and deposit it on two sites to take advantage of the soft games and bonuses. Before I do that, I'm also going to ask my brother for a short loan of 1k to take advantage of the Stars reload bonus.

I'll have a solid working roll for NL100 on stars, but I'm going to grind out some NL50 and NL100 at the other sites as well. Assuming all goes well and I clear the bonuses, I should have enough money to take another shot at NL200.

I might be a bit scared, but I will crush it like this:

personally due to being american (so it's hard to move money to most sites especially ones with bonuses) and not liking adjusting to software, I never move money around. When I first started playing poker I thought I'd do all the bonus whoring and my first attempt was taken when I hit $1.2k for the first time. I took $600 out of PS and deposited it to FTP to get the bonus. But it totally mentally fucked me up. Took me a while to adjust to FTP (this was like 2 years ago so FTP wasn't as nice as it is now and stars totally pwn'd em in the layout department). Things like table selection, the way the software is laid out, options on buttons and shit, the way they do time bank, the way my poker software works with the site, and blah. So there's the adjustment period. Then there's sometimes a big difference in the way people play the same limit from site to site. So there's that adjustment. Lastly I got screwed by the psychological aspect of having my roll split. I knew I was technically rolled for the limit I was playing, but if I lost money on either site it would be really painful cause my BR to look so much smaller. Kept feeling like I was going to bust, and that made me play worse.

There's all that shot and not to mention the hassle of the actual moving money around. That took up lots of time. I guess if you're a european with a neteller account it's not so bad. And if you can get trustworthy people xfer with you then that helps. But you've just put yourself in a situation where you will have to spend a decent amount of time just dealing with moving the money from place to place and making accounts and blah blah. If it all goes well it's still taking up time, and there's a good chance things will go wrong. Credit card won't work, a site takes 48 hours to process a deposit and then has some sorta glitch after you wait the 48 hours, you do an xfer and end up getting robbed by someone you thought you could trust....

I remember reading something a while back by a good player who was talking about the bonus chasing shit, and he made the point that moving money around to chase bonuses and fish when you're playing low stakes poker isn't worth it and that you're much better off just staying on one site where you like the software and management so you can totally focus on improving your game rather than depending on bonuses/fish to keep you going. Then you can move up and make much more money.

So to end this rant, imo it only really makes sense to move money around when you're up at the higher stakes where game selection gets really thin. That way you can have a roll on multiple sites and play wherever the games are the softest. At $5/$10 being able to sit with a fish is worth the other hassle since they're so hard to come by. At .5/1 it's not worth it.

ive really been considering doing this lately because its basically free money. if you can put in the hours to grind out the stakes u know you can beat to clear the bonus then for sure it would be worth it no? i think its a good idea edzwoo as long as the payout options on the website are good. waiting for a cheque to come from over seas doesnt seeem like a good call to me especially if you really need the moeny but im sure its safter then i think and im just being skeptical.

what sites are you planning on bonusing and what are some of the best bonuses to clear? Im for sure interested in knowing more about this since ive really wanted to clear some bonuses lately and plus if i can get a rakeback on the site it should be smooth sailing.

i suggest just grinding and not do any of that bonus whoring, it's such a waste of time when putting in more hands will help you develop as a player, 100nl is easy and soft on stars, and if you were beating it before, just keep playing it.
if you really have no confidence, then just crush 50nl stars 24 tabling or whatever, then move up to 100nl again
