Ok this is going to be a poker post, since I haven't written any lately. I'm gonna talk about my general concerns about my style and what's possibly limiting the rapid growth of my BR. Someone brought up a question in one of my earlier blogs regarding a graph I posted, and I thought it would be worth discussing.

I still haven't recovered my PT3 from my old hard disk yet but if I did, I'd show you guys my 2009 graph (I started seriously playing poker again at the beginning of 2009). Basically my red line ($ won without showdown) is constantly bumping around 0. In a database of about 10k hands, I can expect my red line to go between 2bi to -2bi, but on average it would be zero. My blue line ($ won with showdown) is either really high or really low, depending on how I'm running. Many of these key blue line hands are just near-flips like JJ vs AK pf allin, SFD vs set, big pair vs draw+pair, etc. I feel like my blue line is greatly dictated by luck a lot of the time, especially vs many regs who you just can't fold to a 4bet with AK. I see a lot of graphs and notice that winners have their red line graph as a consistent uphill slope, and their blue line is much like mine. I'm not exactly sure why my red line is always around break-even, but I feel this is one of my bigger leaks that I should work on. I'd much rather see a consistently positive red line than even a steep uphill blue line.

Any thoughts/comments appreciated.

red line can be rigged pretty easily.. if you just stop making big folds and take the hit in the showdown winnings then this will obviously boost the red up.
I remember midian saying that red/blue lines are largely irrelevant.. if you are in snyc with the games and outplaying them then both lines will be going up.

this line discussion is overrated
mine is red going up consistently and the other lines all crazy, doesnt make me any bigger of a winner than you are (or my style isnt > your style)

Im only good at poker when I run good

my friend has consistant downward red line and still beats like 2/4 3/6 for over 4bb/100. He usually plays 5-10 to 25-50 tho.

I think his winrate is like 6.5ptbb over the last 70k hands at 2/4.

i dunno, I don't pay much attention to either line. I only throw those lines in when I'm really bored and looking for something to do in HEM.
