Hey guys, as usual I am only playing hands that are allotted to me from the hand chart I'm currently using and raising 4xbb + 1bb per limper, reraising 3x the original raisers raise. Here are a few hands from today's session (only played 2 hours today since friends dragged me out of the house... but I plan on playing a lot more tomorrow.) Anyway, I've been trying to look for patterns in betting in showdowns and trying to figure out when I am beat but at the moment I am being called down and re raised by almost anything so it has not been easy figuring out where to fold and when to re raise/call re raises or bets. I have a few questions I'd like to get out of the way really quick as well,
1. Should I be raising pre-flop MP-LP if I am first to act with medium pocket pairs?
2. Are JJ-77 considered medium pairs?
3. If I get wired AA-JJ and get called by one player should I be worried after flop when I get re raised when there are all lower cards on board with no flush or straight draw? Should I call and then c/f following turn?
4. Same situation as above but flush/straight draw instead comes on board.
5. Is it correct to continuation bet from EP when nothing hits?
6. When I get re raised with my continuation bet should I call then c/f following turn if nothing improves?
Please let me know what you think of the following hands.

1. When entering a pot you should probably be raising, if you are afraid to raise, then you shouldn't play the hand.
2. I would consider 66-99 medium pairs. 99 has a 33% chance of 1 overpair hitting. while TT is only about 50% ish.
3. Depending on the player, i would happily get the many in as the player might be in love with top pair or an overpair especially at micro stakes.
4. Well definitely ship it in on a more frequent basis or microplayers are in love with bare flush draws and other somewhat weak holdings.
5. It would depend on the callers position but assuming you open in ep and someone in lp calls, I would c bet more often than i would if i was in position because my bet looks stronger and we prevent ourselves from looking very weak by check folding too often. Also, in ep we are representing a strong range of hands.
6. Well you definitely shouldn't be calling if you just have ace high or an underpair. This is a very general question and cannot really be answered simply. You should factor in position, number of outs, stack sizes etc. |

1. his raise looks very strong with more players to act before you, so in this situation you have no idea what your outs are so id pitch it.
2. this is good, no point to check just because one overcard comes.
3. this is very well played, i like your bet with the essential nuts, it looks like a bluff.
4. This hand is pretty funny, but as player you should bet less overall. In general, a continuation bet is only 1/2 to 4/5 pot depending on how many draws on board(the more draws, the larger bet) If you bet normally you can get value from plenty of worse hands, but in this case you probably would have had to pay his set off. As played, just shove river to get value from a lone ten or worse ace.
5. why did you only call preflop? If it because you were scared of AA KK and now JJ is winning, then i don't understand this hand. Unless you were slowplaying pre, i don't see how ur stacking off here unless he is going insane with AK.
6. your postflop skills are pretty impressive, good value betting, good sizing, i would just reraise AK preflop, as player i would reraise the 12c raise.
overall, you play well postflop, but tone down your cont bet size and be more aggressive preflop. |
