i'm hoping this bill goes through, even though i'm doubtful.
i can't get over the ignorance and the constant stating of information as though they were fact. that old lady is like "nobody doubts that if marijuana were legalized... more people would do drugs"
from my research, drug use appeared to go down in the long term in the netherlands after legalisation, so i'm not sure how everyone knows it will create more use.
i'm sick of politicians pretending that marijuana is harmful, and dodging the fact that a reasonable portion (perhaps even a majority) of productive citizens use it. if you did an anonymous poll that didn't include bible belt jesus freaks i'm guessing that well over 70% of the US is pro-legalization, or at the very least doesn't believe smoking marijuana should make you a criminal.

completely just a random thought but, imho marijuana "addiction" should be taken as seriously as alcoholism which is taken TOO seriously practically in north america, i've smoked my fair share of weed and im not saying this out of any moral qualm but, damn in excess, it can actually be pretty destructive, but.. yeah. this is kind of completely irrelevant and my own rant :X,
on topic, if alcohol is legal weed might as well be legal. :o and actually if it were legal people would probably be more public about addiction studies and stuff.

I'm pro legalization and I have never even smoked it, not a single toke. In fact I havent used any drugs of any kind ever (not counting normal medical/prescription stuff obviously). I also have no intention to begin using marijuana even if it were legalized.
bye now

This is true, I've always thought it's because of the 'kick' of using. Like doing something illegal to get a kick out of it and that's why they're using. If it's legal there is no use anymore.
Kind of the same with 13 year old kids who start smoking to 'look cool' even though they don't really like it or anything. Even though smoking is legal but I guess you see my point (?).

I think cali is the wrong place to legalize this first. Living here I see a lot of personalities that will just smoke this shit non-stop. But if it's legal that's their choice to do so. Americans, especially Californians, are a type of people to really over do things. I'm sure they will get over it eventually, but I just have a feeling if it were to get legalized people would go nuts smoke a ton, and then the law would get reversed right when people started to get over it and it just became normal and overall use would decline.

lol think you are so wrong. already medical marijuana. it being illegal really stops no one anywhere i dont think. except for like the percent of people who cant find a dealer or liek the 1 percent of people who r like actually afraid of it being illegal. i think itd be awesome if they legalized weed. id love to be able to go to a conveinent store and pick up a pack of joint. or be able to go to a store and be able to choose from a lot of different selections . instead of the shit load of variance from dealers and the hassle of dealing with them

That's an oxymoron, Do You See Why ???
Frankly, are you really leaving in the US or ?
Do you realize that if you get rid off those freaks, never ever the US would have been run by such a retard as Bush ?
I mean, I love the USA, but those freaks represent a ridiculous part of your citizens.

my take: I personally have not smoked any weed since last november... one of the reasons why is that I refuse to be a hypocrite, and realize that some if not a large part of the cash goes to cartels in Mexico, which allow them to buy politicians and weapons, and keep my people living in a place where the gov't is shit that results in a lower quality for life for all.
I won't go into the reasons for why legalization would be good, as many have them have been stated prior... but I like to look at the other spectrum as well... our state will/would need to enact stricter policies for operating vehicles to protect the safety of the public, in addition there would be serious conflicting issues with employers that have zero tolerance policies to drug users (even the recreational) hurting the states employment rate (and income tax that it gets from that). Another, is that there would be an endless battle of state vs gov't law, costing up to several millions in trials and another leak in our feeble budget.

u could even argue that if u legalize drugs, it will actually lead to a more efficient society. i will elaborate if anyone so desires me to, but it is a very interesting and valid argument imo.
and yes, i mean ALL drugs.
