Jim Cramer was on the Daily Show last night after a week of John Stewart skewering him and CNBC. It was pretty fucking awesome. Not the funniest interview ever, but epic in a "holy shit he's laying the smack down" type of way.

If you have no idea what the history behind this is, click the spoiler. Otherwise check out the epic interview below!

Gogo John! This is the type of interview that needs to be happening, not all the soft ball BS that regular reporters do. It's crazy that a comedy news show is doing the best reporting and most real interviews out there. Plus it was civil (some cursing but overall respectful), which was a great change from the MSM talking heads who just yell over each others BS. I feel like Cramer actually redeemed himself a little bit and at the end of the day this interview left a bit of hope that something productive came out of it, as Cramer seemed to have been put in his place and made promises to make changes in his approach to his show and reporting... we'll see if he lives up to that or if he goes back to the same BS he was doing before.

i pretty much hate the daily show because it takes everything out of context, and context is just as important as the other elements of language.

that said, cramer got raped but took it well.

Epic blog entry, I was afraid after the elections you would lose your drive to keep discussing meaningful material k2o4, yet still you march on. Good stuff man, keep it up.

haha knew u were gonna write bout the interview. Really great interview, but Cramer won't change cuz the network won't let him. What I personally want to see if Cramer keep mad money cuz the network won't let him drop that. But let him get a new show where he isn't as crazy and most down to earth about things.

I havn't seen daily show take that much out of context for any personal gain. The times I have seen them take things out of context has been just as numerous as other reporting TV shows. Plus the daily show/colbert report doesn't expect anyone to take their news show as 100% serious news like other news places. So ya they take stuff out of context for jokes that are hilarious, but whenever it's a real news story or important they keep things in context.

I gotta disagree with you for the rare occasion jeff and go with palak on this one. They take shit outta context at times for jokes, but often do a good job of calling out BS. I've seen fox take things out of context much more than the daily show, and fox does it and claims it's serious news while the stuff that the daily show takes out of context is nearly always for a joke that is clearly a joke.

I agree that Cramer took it well and I do think he redeemed himself a bit.

And thanks Newbsaibot =)

I love american political sketches they are funny as hell, I watch daily show/colbert report everytime I can, my only criticism is that sometimes they don't let people talk as much or go to far to satirize people views but hey it's comedy show amiright ?

I said that because a few days ago I saw a guy trying to talk about something serious and images of cute cats kept popping on the screen, funny as hell but I felt sorry for the guy.

well sure if you want to compare the daily show's shitty news coverage with other shitty news coverage then i guess we can argue about which shitty news coverage is shittier.

the problem i have with the daily show is that the obvious jokes are almost never entirely jokes. they're one part joke coupled with a second part rhetoric. essentially the mix of humor and fact is funny on the one hand but insidious on the other. as a joke the content doesn't pretend to hold itself to a high standard but nonetheless it imparts rhetoric and "fact." thus the rhetorical part of the message reinforces and shapes the beliefs of the viewership despite being fictitious. even the rational viewer who realizes that the material is part joke and part rhetoric will be influenced (albeit less than he might be by a serious argument).

i prefer colbert because he's just pure humor and doesn't operate with rhetoric. guys like stewart are intentionally shaping the mob and so i have a problem with them.

that was cramer on the colbert report

as for daily show shaping the mob arguement....I don't have a problem only because his shaping is mild and for the most part his views arn't anything outrageous, they are typically, well, truthful views. I can count the number of times stewart has gotten fully out of line on one hand, he is usually very restrained about going to far leftist on his statements.

I am probably just dumb but I see no difference between stewart and colbert other than colbert pretends to be an extreme right wing guy and gets laughs from being so extreme that it shows how ridiculous those guys are.

IMO Jhon plays the ironic liberal and colbert the over-conservative, both funny characters not much more than that, people should take their views of important matters very lightly.

Kramer here shows a good example of how to own it and he's probably least at fault since his show is so ridiculously over the top - it's clear that entertainment is part of it. I actually gained respect for Kramer from this interview. The rest of that crap on that station disguises itself as credible market news. LOL at anyone who thinks of CNBC as anything more than a market cheerleader.

My biggest gripe was when when John exclaimed "It's not a game". That's the biggest issue. It absolutely is a game - and people need to treat it that way - it's just the mom&pop investors that watch CNBC and move their savings on their recommendations just don't realize it.

For that matter any tv news needs to be taken with the understanding of who the owners are of those deregulated networks and what their agendas are.
