Like most of you I found my way here instead of the Deuces because of TL.net. I never had an account, just lurked because I liked SC strategy (I have the micro of a 73-old though). I haven't been back really since I started poker seriously last summer. For some reason I decided to search "poker" there tonight and read the threads. Obviously they're hilarious, but it begs the question: Why don't more TL people make use of LP and win monies? I mean I remember being suspicious of the "shady" online poker site that generated a link everytime someone typed "poker" and the get rich quick stories that Tl-to-LP graduates told, but after checking it out I realized that there were just a bunch of nice people sharing incredibly valuable secrets with me simply because I signed up for their website (thx btw). I guess this would do better over there, but I don't have an account, so you guys tell me, why aren't more TL people hitting us up for poker know-how?

And that's why I take their monies. |

there's some anti-poker stigma from some people there (since TL has such a huge international audience, etc. you're bound to find a lot of anti-gambling people or w/e). obviously the ones who are open to it have come here, but yeah you're right it's still a small %, and smaller than you would think. I still post on TL mostly (at least more than here), but i think a lot of TL -> LP people have also quit TL completely.
another thing is the strict learning curve of poker, especially in the games today (2.5 years AFTER legislation, damn it's been a while), that and the general populace just doesnt have the time, patience, or discipline for a game like this. I would certainly support any friends of mine that decided to start playing, but i definitely am NOT encouraging people to START. I wouldnt voluntarily allow any of my friends to go through this pain :[. |

I'd say:
1. A decent are portion of them are probably not 18 yet.
2. People don't like picking up new hobbies unless they have a strong incentive to do so.
3. The thought of gambling on the internet seems way too out of the ordinary. |
