Of course I'm waiting for a call from my GF to see if I should head out to meet her yet, and I decide I'll play a few more hands while waiting. I actually had sat out on all tables and was thinking of ending the session, but no, I'm playing well and deep on a 2 tables with deep fish, so might as well play a few more hands till the call comes. And then I get setup for a nice 150bb pot with AK vs QQ on an AQ7 flop.
And right as the chips get pushed into his stack the phone starts ringing... obviously. It's like the universe just wants to fuck with us sometimes. I bet you have all had similar experiences where if the phone call had come 1 minute earlier you would have sat out and missed that one painful hand. Or if you'd just quit instead of staying till the big blind, or if you hadn't come back to play after taking that break... Sometimes it feels like the poker gods or lee know that we're getting ready to quit so they hit us with a painful cooler or beat to tilt us into chasing a loss. Or maybe to just tilt us so we can't enjoy the fun thing we were quitting the game to go do and punish us for leaving the tables.
I know none of that is true, but god, does it ever feel that way sometimes!
