I started a poker club here at UIUC. You would think that when people like Barry Greenstein and Taylor Caby graduate from here, it would have already been made, right?
Anyways, the main objective is to teach people how to play poker and have discussions (lolz liquidpoker). I'll definitely have critics since I'm not so narrow minded to think I'm anywhere close to being the best player on campus; but I believe I'm qualified to teach new players basic concepts. In the beginning of next semester, I'm going to ask you guys for help on running this thing, so expect a few threads in the Main Poker section in a month or so.
Sooooooo... with about 50,000 students, and thousands of people walking through the quad during Quad Day (where all the clubs are advertised in the quad)...
...how many signups would I get?

i helped start one at the University of Michigan, we meant to have all those teaching things and crap but we ended/are still doing 2-3 games a months with a tournament and side games. We started out with 20 ish people and got it up to around 100 people. Every year, we also have a big event in where all student originizations can recruit new members and we get a lot more then. Because poker speaks for itself, you should easily be able to find members but i don't know if you are going to be able to have everything you want. |

Thanks for the advice. In all honesty, if I can get 20 people that consistently come, I would be absolutely thrilled.
It also looks good on the resume |

This makes me think that I should check to see if CU has a poker club. Been trying to find people to play live poker with.

I have learned from poker that being at the table is not a grind, the grind is living and poker is how I pass the time | |
