but overall I really gotta stock up some stuff like canned foods, water, flashlights, gas stove, batteries, blah blah. I barely have any of that shit and having enough for a couple weeks seems like a smart thing to do. Not cause the world is about to end, just cause shit happens. Might hit a snow storm that kills the power for a week - then I'd be totally fucked.

fuck this virus. i was going to go to mexico in a couple of weeks but all the travel agencies advised that we didnt go to mexico right now because of this. sucks. guess dominican will have to do again

Even if there is a cure, if a pandemic breaks out supply won't be able to meet the demands for the medicine and millions will still die though. Dunno where I read it but I remember back when SARS was all hyped up a lot of scientists said a large flue pandemic was inevitable in the long run and it was not so much the question if there would be one but rather when o_O

go on wikipedia and search Spanish Flu. I was like holy shit WTF? I didn't even know that pandemic happened! Over 50 million people died from it during 1917-1919 or so.

That doesn't seem accurate at all given the worlds population at the time. 50 Million is too large a number. Plus there is also the millions that died in WWI between 1914-1918 so I think those numbers are quite a bit off. If you look at population statistics for the world at that time you'll see why.
