So I started Day 1B of the 500k Deepstack at Borgata today at 11am, and ended up playing until about 10pm before going busto =[

I had been really cold-decked the entire day, with a lot of big moves on some decent combo draws always missing and a complete lack of any real starting hands to play for about the first 8 hours. The first sign of hope was when I doubled up to about 30BB the hand before the dinner break with AKs shoving over a few limpers and winning a flip against 77. After that I still ran pretty cold, but managed to keep my stack up winning pots without showdowns.

In the end I had about 24k @ 500/1000/100 and raised ATss to 2500 in the CO. Just the BB called, and flop came 929ss. He checks I bet 4k and he snapcalls. Now I'm pretty sure he is on a FD and he MIGHT sometimes have a small PP here. Turn is a 4c and he shoves me in for 17.4k into like 14.5k. I end up calling because I don't want to fold and leave myself to start day 2 with like 10BB, then drive an hour there and back to AC just to shove every hand pre until I bust, and besides I already think I'm ahead a lot of the time anyway. He ends up showing 34ss and holds =[. After that I hung around to watch the table for a bit before finding a 1/2 PLO game, in which I won $390 back in about an hour before going home XD.

Even though I busted, I'm now pretty confident in my play. I managed to last almost the entire day and start day 2 with almost 20BB despite getting verrrrrry few playable hands, and only had to get my stack in once to do it. My reads were also spot on the entire day, and every time I guessed what people had in big hands I was right every time it got to showdown (or was shown down, in some cases). I'm sure if I could ever just get a big hand in a tourney like this while still having a decent stack then I can really do some damage if I keep playing as well as I think I am.

Oh and I got to meet Ari "Bodog Ari" Engel, too. He was in the seat to my left for about the last 8 hours of the day, and he's a pretty cool guy and a REALLY solid player. It was fun watching him play, and I think I learned a little bit from it as well. He was one of the more pleasant table mates...there was this other douchebag who called the clock on me 4 FUCKING TIMES without me tanking for more than a minute before calling the floor. By the third time both Ari and I were kind of verbally annoyed and wondered wtf he was doing. Then he yelled at the dealer for dealing him some stupid cheap bad beat like it was her fault and he stormed out of the poker room for like 15 minutes lol.

<3 teh deepstacked live pokers. Can't wait for WSOP!

GL all,
-Joe
