Reading this thread makes me incredibly jealous. It's amazing how far poker has progressed in only a few years. Judging by some of the posts, 3/6 was roughly equivalent to 0.05/0.10 now. Microgrinders take note, even some LP legends were saying things like "I hate players who chase gutshots" and "I'm grinding 3/6 on a $5000 roll". Fun stuff, wish I played then.

you were also jealous about how you could have been the best around in 1999 if you then had the starcraft skill you had in 2005? ^^

flop is 8 J and 4
i only raise 1$ to make some money
3 ppl stay
turn is like a 2, no flush draw or anything
i go all in 50$
1 guy folds
1 guy goes all-in with 50$
the river is a 6

I'm actually reasonably confident that I'd be one of the 3 best NL hold'em players in the world in like '99 with my current skill-set, and maybe top 30 in 2003. Now whether or not I'd have the cleverness and drive to come up with everything I learned independent of the collective poker hivemind is another story...

i liked reading lots of nazgul's posted hands and him limping TT/JJ in FR.
also reading Dirk's comments about pps and raising being aggressive with them were very interesting, as most of the other posters denied that it was a good strategy. he sounded like he was really ahead of the curve and I wonder who he is and if he's still playing and if he's doing very well.

The only hands a nit balances in his range are the nuts, the second nuts, and the third nuts.

rofl the best post is a dude trying to convince another that 2 buy ins + deep it's wrong to put the money in preflop with AA because "it's better not to invest so much money in one hand"

LOL was just about to post that. It's funny cause it was a lot of raises preflop and finally the guy pushes in for what is left with his stack. The guy with AA calls and get sucked out on and this is the response:

Why did you call it? You don't know what is going to come up on the flop. You shouldn't bank that much money on something where you don't know the results.

WHY WOULD YOU CALL THAT?
