Day 22: 22.6.09

Today I played one MTT and two sessions. MTT was 10$ buy-in on CakePoker and I was doing well but I was out in first positions in ITM when I lost in coinflip (A9 vs. 22). At the same time I played my first session and I was also doing well and was really satisfied with my game. I made good laydowns when I preflop folded QQ and one of opponent has AA and on turn I folded my JJ overpair and my opponent has set as was my read on him. Unfortunately I had bad spots in the end and had also two bad beats (AK vs KQ and then KQ vs QJ). This really pissed me off and I felt like I can’t win anymore. This is graph of this session:

I know it’s not big deal but I hate loosing. This moth is not going how I imagine and I complained to my friend. He told me to play more and I will win again. I know he is right this is only temporary feeling and every good poker player know it. I will not give up and I definitely know that I can beat this limit so I have to continue try my best.
After couple of hours, in the evening I played second session. I decided to play not four tables as I was playing till now but six tables. I play TAG style and my style is a bit tighter (my stats are 17/13) so I think I can easy handle with it. I think I play solid but I’m still learning. I play poker a bit over one year but with online poker I started in June this year. Back to my second session NL50 sixmax on Betfair and my first sixtabeling. I was doing well and sixtabeling wasn’t problem so without bad beat in this short session I won almost two buy-ins. So total result for today was +$35.2 in 1390 hands. I had in this session one tough spot where I probably made good laydown but didn’t play that hand well so how I should play this hand it better: http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/708731 ??.
In the end I have one more question on you guys. I was thinking about what is optimal openraise from SB to BB? 3BB? 2,5BB? What’s your opinion???

Total result so far: 11230 hands, -$266.23

I think you played the AQ hand just fine. TPTK aint always gonna hold. And people will bluff you off from time to time, but they'll burn themselves in the end, assuming that was even a fear of yours in the hand.

personally I think the amount you raise BvB to be rather irrelevant. Whatever you are aiming for, stealing or value. It's entirely player dependent. Some people will fold their BB to a minraise all day long, others call anything less than 5x. So you'll have to decide why your raising the BB since if he calls, youre OOP HU in a raised pot, which is about the crappiest spot to be in all of poker. If villain is particularly tight and has near 100% Fold BB, why raise 3BB's? 2.5 will do the trick. If villain is a loose tard, then make it 4x or even 5x to tax him for his stupidity.

bye nowLast edit: 23/06/2009 00:22
