I have a 75 buy in rule for cash games, and 100 buy in for tourneys and S&G's. I keep them at 75/100 because I feel it reduces the tilt factor. Are these buy ins to high and do you they should be lowered to like 50/75?

PRETTY MUCH- What is your buy in rule, and how much do you think they should be?

Thanks

100 is standard for S&Gs, not enough for MTTs.

75-100 for cash games is if it's your permanent stake and you play for a living.

How much have you studied the game, have you read good books or watched instructional videos from reputational sites?

If you're confident you're a winning player then you can go as low as 20 bi, if you're moving up to a new game you aren't familiar with you should have around 30-40 bi, for tournament play it depends on the format of the tournament but 100 bi or slightly less is a good general rule. (obv. not for huge mtts though)

This is all assuming you're NLHE player, for example PLO you need a little bit bigger bankroll (40-50?) because of the natural variance of the game.

When following smaller br rules you should be ready to move down when necessary.

I've done some studying, and I have read "The Poker Mindset" I also love reading as much as I can from Phil Ivey. I get the feeling that I'll become a way better player over time but as far as books I can read a few more. I only wanna read about three more because I don't want it altering my form of style and turning me into a robot player. Math is something that I'm incorporating a little more and it seems pretty nice.

depends on what limits u play

If u play Nl25 then 75BI rule is a joke ....
far to conservative

if u play NL 1000 then 75BI is standart

U see what i did there with A8 ? He 4 bets and there we go insta jam A8 : ---booooom -- . hahahaha ( Krantz)

If I were you and was ready to spend money on learning I'd rather get a training site subscription, its not going to be that much more expensive but will be ten times more useful for you.

Ryan Fee's free 6 max nlhe guide is also great for starting players, it seems like his website is currently down but I found a link to the guide, not sure if its the most up-to-date version though. http://www.gamblingsystem.biz/books/2p2NL6max.pdf

u reaaally dont need a 75 buyin rule for microstakes, its good that you are aiming for good bankroll management but really 75 buyins will simply hamper your progress in moving up.

For cash games something like a 20-30 buyin rule will be totally sufficient, you just need to have discipline in moving down if you drop below your buyin threshold.

E.g if you use a 20 buyin rule, you move up when you have 20 buyins for the next level, but if you hit a downswing you must move back down when you drop to only 17 buyins or so.

Also suggest you pick a game and stick with it. I dunno what the consensus is, but I dont really like the idea of going back and forth between sng's and cash unless it's just for fun. I think if you want to progress in poker, you need to pick a game, focus all of your time and attention on it, and then pound that bitch in the ass on a daily basis.

bye now
