I was really hoping to get some hands in this month after completing my summer courses and returning from vacation, but at this point I have given up on pokerstars. Since July, I began experiencing major lag to the point that it is impossible to play. I have emailed tech support about this multiple times and this is all I get:
Hello Holly,
Thank you for your email and for allowing us to be of assistance.
I have reviewed the Network Status Report that you previously sent through
and you are correct that the issue lies somewhere outside your ISPs network,
this does not mean it is something that is controlled by us. I would
personally suggest that you contact your ISP and ask them to trace the
traffic and then route your path around the issue.
Please do not hesitate to contact us again if you require any further
assistance.
Regards,
Sean

So I guess I'm just screwed because calling my ISP is not going to accomplish anything. I'm pretty disappointed that my only option is to withdraw my bankroll and find another site. My stats and notes on other players really help, so now I'm back to square one.
I have considered registering an account on Full tilt, but I don't know much about it. Does anyone have any advice or opinions about Full tilt? Are there any other online poker sites worth playing on?
I'm really hoping the issue will resolve itself but so far FAIL

Make sure to sign up for rakeback before you sign up for Full Tilt if you do play there. |

Dogmeat you could easily be wrong about that. How could you possibly know whether its a software problem or an ISP problem? Just because it lags for you doesn't mean its the same cause? Maybe if your internet/streaming videos works perfectly and it's JUST PS that is failing then it's more likely.
Either way calling your ISP and complaining can eventually lead to someone who knows how to fix it figuring it out, better than guessing on your own.

My connection only suffers when connecting to the pokerstars network. I have done thorough bandwidth testing and network polling to a variety of ip addresses, and absolutely none are exhibiting any connection problems. I have also tried installing the pokerstars client on another pc which resides on another network and the same problems occur.
I was told that calling my ISP would be pointless, but if you are convinced calling in and complaining will get me somewhere I will give it a try. |
