Illini Poker Club
Our purpose: To provide a learning experience in No Limit Texas Hold'em for both new and experienced players.

Have you ever wondered how the pros just seem to know what the other person has? You’ve seen the daring bluffs, sick calls, and unreal laydowns on TV, and all you can think is, “How did that happen!?”
At Illini Poker Club, you will learn to play like the pros! As long as you know the rules to No Limit Texas Hold’em, you’ll definitely learn a thing or two! Here’s a taste of what you can expect…
For newer players, here are some concepts you will learn to become a solid player:
• Starting hands- what, why, and how
• Bet sizing and value-betting
• Simple odds and expected value (EV)
• Basic hand reading
For motivated or experienced players, we will also touch on many advanced concepts including:
• Bluffing and fold equity
• Combinatorics and advanced hand reading
• Leveraging bet sizes
• 3bet pots
• Range merging

wow totally the wrong approach, sounds like youre massively nerdifying poker and removing all the fun from it from the point of view of a beginning player. srsly just put yourself in the shoes of someone who doesnt know much about poker but is open minded and wants to try something new and imagine what they'll be thinking when they read this poster. they'll be like LOL POKER SOUNDED INTERESTING BUT WTF IS ALL THIS COMBINATORICS AND RANGE MERGING? scared away after one glance and probably think you're a bunch of weirdo anorak wearing freaks writing all that shit. if i was a member of your poker club and was looking forward to having a fun new year with the club with new people and then saw that this was the poster the club president produced to try and get said new people i would be facepalming pretty hard.
heres a rough idea of themes you should try to portray in your posters that will appeal to and attract people looking to try poker out:
- poker is glamorous like james bond lifestyle
- playing poker is thrilling and an adrenaline rush
- reads, tells, poker face and daring bluffs z0mg!!1
- the club is a great social atmosphere for funtime and welcomes all
- beginners welcome, with maybe details of special beginner sessions where theyre taught to play or something idunno
use posters with much fewer words, more eye catchingness maybe some lame puns or something, if possible make 2-4 different posters with diff messages and pics so all they have in common is the most skeletal essential details ("poker club, meets at x, beginners welcome, bring your friends" . for example a poster with a pic of a hu match going on on a live poker table with a baller dressed glamorous looking shark hero bluffing allin with 72o when his opponent across the table is sweating and looks terrified, with a tagline of "POKER CLUB: DO YOU HAVE THE STONES TO BLUFF?" or something even as lame as that would be infinitely better than that ridiculous poster text you had which might have been copy pasted right off the front page of pokerzion |
