I was looking to get a new laptop but I dont know how big I should go. It will only be used for surfing the web, online banking, and poker. I just want it to be fast and have plenty of storage for what I need it for. Was looking for some suggestions if you guys had some spare time. Price range $500 - $1000. Ideas on virus protection would be nice also. Thanks

Laptops I go w/ sonys. Should have something in the price range that works, dells have good customer support too

just one sentence about desktops: consider it since u get more bang/buck.

now onto laptops, considering ur requirements (web, banking, poker, storage) you're in fantastic shape as you probably described the laptop u get the most bang for buck for. if you don't mind refurbished, or scratch and dent i really recommend dell outlet. u can even get blu ray for under 1K. u get pretty much ~2.2 ghz intel core 2 duo, 4gb ram, blu ray, 500 gb hd for all about < 1K. can't really improve on that can you?

also having used both a 15 and a 17 inch laptop, i can't recommend enough the utility of the upgraded screen size.
