For a micro stakes grinder (nl10/plo5) with lots of time to study and practice either of the games, which would you recommend at this point?
I've been playing poker for about half a year+ seriously now and have slowly turned profit in both games and have now come to a point where I think I should specialize in either of the two to make my learning process quicker.
I think I'm quite a bit better at NLHE than I am at PLO, I've played more hands on hold'em than omaha and obviously the amount of information that can be gained from reading books/forums is far greater in hold'em right now as PLO information seems limited. Compared to the competition at the micro stakes though I'd say I have about the same edge in both games.
The biggest reason I'm currently strongly considering PLO is that the game is still much younger in the way that it isn't as defined as NLHE is and because of that the competition should be quite a bit softer allowing for easier makemoneygogo activity. Variance scares me a little though, I've yet to go in to a huge PLO downswing so I'm not sure at all how I'd take it.
Thoughts? Would love to hear any opinions.

As you stated, PLO is younger game which hasn't been quite mastered like NLHE.
But if it were me starting again at nl10/plo5 i would play mainly PLO , with a little NLHE HU on the side. PLO Variance seems sick gross though |

PLO it is, at least until the first real downswing that will without doubt affect the way I see the game.
I'll probably be updating my blog with a graph at some point, possibly around the 10k hand mark but that'll take a while as I'm going to be mostly 2 tabling while trying to improve my game. |
