I'm an 18 year old student attending my first year of uni at an arts school, right now I'm grinding 6 tables of nl .1/.2 (kinda card-dead right now). I made about 2 mill in play chips before I decided to "borrow" my parents' credit card to deposit 50$ last night(if you want some il sell u 2mill for 7$).
The donkness of high play money and micro stakes seem to match. I'm following Jelle's guide on super-tight play (like folding AJ utg)and it seems to be working, I'm a bit bored being in robot mode since there's no point to analyze peoples play, most are terrible (although I can recognize when certain players have some semblance of strategy).
I have a question concerning turn play, I seem to have trouble getting max value from people, should i bet turn even if there are no draws?

depends on the player because some people fold right away which sucks. I am doing the same as you basically just multitabling .1/.2 and really what works is or at least what works for me is bet the turn more so than not betting it. This is because even when theres no draws, they can have a weaker pair or like overcards hoping to catch that card.
obv bet into calling stations. dont bet into crazy ppl if you cant handle like the huge bluffs they will do later especially like when you cant read hands or at least I didnt when i first started out. I realized this because I used to call those thinking "oh yeah pro style im gonna call u wit ace-high ship it nub" then lose my stack. For those people just trap them.
Im a beginner as well like you so take what I say with a grain of salt but its nice to like talk about it with someone u know. |

W00t! Im up 3.5 buyings, been 2.5 hours of play though. not running super good or super bad. got sucked out on once and sucked out once.
I went from 4 tables to 6 to 8 since i like getting cards lol, not too much to pay attention too right now, peoples play seems very random and emotion driven.
i learned that hollywooding a bit makes anyone call u with anything haha
edit: a little lame making 6$ in three hours but hey I'm a patient guy. |

people at .1/.2 will find a draw to chase even when you dont think there is one on the board. |

I have trouble not analyzing players and that is a huge downfall at micro stakes, luckily I've been good at tilt control. It is kind of hilarious some of the lines you see at micro, people c/c all the way with ace Q and a queen hits flop and river. |

you're playing wayy too tight. 3bet every once in a while and try to keep isolation in mind.
if you're folding AJo UTG your range is 12%< which leads me to wonder how much you open up according to positions for example 12 utg 14 mp 18 lp 25 utb. also is this full ring or 6 max? ( i would go with 6 max imo)
I just started as well, well i had started previously but stopped and am starting 2 days ago taking this seriously lol, so i am in a similar situation, i'm just relaying what i found to be things i overlooked massively, and i think would help to always keep in mind.
edit: i should add that if you're anything like me when i was playing too tight the propensity for bluffing with one of these hands is immense, mostly due to the amount of time you had to wait to get it and letting it go simply because the flop and common sense tells me to is absurd, BUT please do (let it go). bluffing is a leak in micro.
good thing is you can combat this need by simply widening your range a bit. |
