Whats a good way to keep my lower body strong without going to gym and having equipment? I generally do squats/deadlifts...but its a pretty big time commitment to do this regularly in the next couple of years.

I wouldn't mind going for sprints or something like that around where I live for this. Also a consideration would be to keep my knees healthy in the long term. I want strong legs basically...Id probably mix in a couple trips to the gym during the month, but for those stretches where I dont go Its kinda important to have an alternative.

And what do you think is a good home workout for my upper body given that I only have a bench press and dumbbells. Im thinking about buying a pull-up bar, and something for my forearms. Don't have the money to shell out on a squat rack and kinda hesitant about shelling out money for an olympic bar and plates.

literally just standing and squatting for an extended period of time while watching tv or something does more then one would think.

Oo yeah Ive tried that thing. Its pretty hard. I used to do it to try to balance the strength of my left leg.

What rep/set scheme do you think would be good? Difference between weightless and with weights? And how many days per week??

Wreckognize, sounds solid. But that goes against the whole save time thing a bit.

pistols for strength
hindu squats are good for conditioning

yoga is good for absurd balance/strength. but many poses require lots of flexibility too

Id really like to know how my legs will respond to different types of cardio. (different paces and durations).

asdf :

Ive generally trained for strength up till now. Its nice...but Idk if training for other stuff would feel better. I don't really know what training for "Conditioning" "Balance" "Explosiveness" etc will feel like for my overall body. Willing to experiment with whatever.

Try to build yourself a power rack. One of my buddies did it with a bunch of 4x4. Then either buy or make a cheap bench and do rippetoe's workout. search for it on bodybuilding.com forum, its a great program that helps build strength really fast. Also if your not the creative type and don't want to build your own rack, look on craigslist can probably find a used squat or power rack for like 100 bucks.

well what is it that you want. what is your goal.

i actually read your whole post this time and sprints are great, but if you want good results from them you really have to work hard.

for your upper body do planche progression and get that pullup bar and do front lever progression as well. it will take time but after a while of doing it you are going to be stronger than most everyone else

what kind of strength you looking for? variations of body squats will only do so much. if youre just looking for ok strength and good leg conditioning i suppose they'll work. but if you are looking for real strength you gotta go to a gym and do it right brudda.

Push ups are one of the best upper body exercises you can do without weights. I'd recommend doing 100 a day, will definitely keep your upper body at least somewhat strong.

asdf : Thanks. Those planche progression things look pretty awesome as a home workout.

donkey : yeah well I have been doing push-ups for on and off for the past 2 weeks...because I havnt had the time so I just figured Id do that. I generally resort to push-ups when I cant work out for awhile. But my appetite just got owned when switching to push-ups and not doing full body workout. So Im trying to switch new stuffs. Thats kinda why I want a home workout for my legs (since such a huge muscle group no matter how much upper body crap I do my appetite just dies If I dont work them out)

kbis - yeah Ive done rippetoe before with decent results in the past. But honestly bulking just takes so much work in terms of hours spent on eating...and with other priorities id rather just work-out so my body/mind feels good and I have more energy in general.

Yeah so Final Verdict on home workout is :
Planche stuff for upper body. Pistol Squats for lower body. Add in whatever I feel the Planche doesnt cover for upper body.

And do this weird thing I developed to exercise my feet muscles (It feels pretty awesome lol)
