So i recently got invited to the sc2 beta but my moment of happiness was quickly overcome by shame at my rinky-dink computer that cant run sc2. My comp also frequently shuts off randomly which is very tilting when i'm playing sngs. So i have decided to buy a new computer but I know nothing about them so im hoping someone can help me. I would like to be able to run sc2 smoothly but I don't need to have it on the highest possible settings or anything. I would also like to be able to run Stars, HEM, Table ninja, and firefox with a couple tabs all at the same time. I would prefer to get a laptop but I can live with a desktop and I already have a monitor to hook it up to. I would like to spend around $750 but I can go up to 1k. Anyone out there who can help me out with this?

if you add tons of macro options and units and keep the old obligations like sending scvs to mine, pros will just focus less on micro which sucks imo -Floofy

If you wanna get it to run SC2 specifically, you should probly go desktop.

If you HAVE to have a laptop, go HP. They are the best quality for the price on the market in my opinion.

If you can build a desktop, definitely go that route, and buy the components off newegg. It is pretty easy to throw together by just watching a few vids off youtube. I would be willing to help you out through PMs if you want with that.

As far as pre-purchased desktops, I can't really recommend any since they are almost all drastically overpriced, so I don't look into them all that often.

never really "thrown together" a comp but would be willing to give it a shot. What would you recommend I watch to at least get started with it?

umm tigerdirect, while their site blows for prices, makes some pretty good videos. Look up how to mount the motherboard, how to place the processor and apply thermal paste, mounting hard drives and power supplies, etc.

TBH, it is all pretty easy to do. If you can use a screwdriver, you can put together a computer. Just avoid putting it together on carpet, and you should be good. With the exception of like small plugs if you want a nicer case and stuff, but that is all described in the manuals that come with the product

maybe just google on a manual for putting together computer parts ?

I used the Gamestar.de Guide which however is in German.
I just followed it step by step and it worked without problems

U really dont need any special knowledge.

scredriver and ability to read = gg
