Seriously, I almost forgot.
About a month ago I got a serious doomswitch.. some 40BI below EV in a span of 7 days. No big deal, thats poker and I just grinded through it while focusing on my A game.
The only problem is I didn't.
Instead I tried Dota 'for a couple hours' and played some 150 hours of it since then.
A combination of frustration from poker and my deeply rooted Dota addiction basically meant that I got out of touch and played like crazy on Iccup, it just seems like so much more fun than poker when money is not my motivator, its simply easier to unwind playing Dota than poker after a long day at work.
So I haven't touched poker, LP or anything poker related in over a month now. I lost my SN on Stars. And I still deep down have a stigma from losing since I quit after a doomswitch.
Luckily, I will have 2 weeks of holidays starting Friday, first in a very long time. I need to get rid of the stress, recharge my energy and just gently cuddle with poker on a site that doesn't force me to play a million hands per month and restore the fun I always had playing poker.
P.S. Sorry to all for being out of touch, dota is such a time and attention guzzler

It is very difficult to get motivation back when you are not running so good. I guess one way of getting some motivation back is reading a Poker Book. |

I agree with you whole-heartedly. When I run bad, I tend to stay off of poker and grind out hours of sc/sc2/etc. Good to realize I've been doing this too, thanks for the blog. Gl with it, and keep us updated on your future =) |

Can relate to what you're saying bout getting "doomswitched" then go do something else for a month. I almost did it last week, I lost 7000e in a week, and I felt rly down, but I felt I was just getting rivered, coolered, unlucky, bad beat, and that if I just kept at it, It'd be alright, and actually last night, some weird thing happened, and for like 1 hour straight, I kept hitting everything, people kept just instagoing all in each time I had AA or KK, and sets left and right, like I had almost forgotten it could happen. And in 1 hour, BLAM 5000e, such a rush lol.
Glaaaad I didn't do what I normally do, and go in hiding for a month, then come back xD |

it happens. when the last memory you have of poker is a doomswitch, breaks can last for a long time. sounds like that's what's happening to you. usually when it happens to me, what gets me back to the game is watching some poker show, mostly if my gf is watching poker after dark in the livingroom and i can just hear the action.. stuff like that. gets me thinking about the depths of poker again and how fun it really can be.
if you get back and your first session is good, the problem will be completely solved.
but games that youre addicted to is a bitch, i have mine too. i feel like they've cost me a looot of money through the years, but then again not everything is poker and if you had played every day while not being up for it, there's no way you would have played your A-game anyway.
good luck! |

I've got other extra-curricular activities but essentially I agree with what you said -- as the games get rough and money is not the motivator I'd rather spend my leisure time on something else. |

The more more you're losing the less you want to play. Pretty natural. You'll come back eventually. It's also obviously clear you don't enjoy playing. |
