If you play without a HUD. How do you...

Spot Tight-Aggressive players when you are playing Hud-less? And figure out the idiosyncrasies to their game? Emphasis on playing hudless.

It seems that players that are fishy, laggy, and nitty are easy to spot, since their qualities are at extremities. But

I have trouble spotting "tight-aggressive" type players.

What kind of things do you look for? Which of those is the most important?

How soon do you reach conclusions? Do you ever make certain plays to "Test" how they will react to get a read? (Ex flatting a river bet to see how they play, or 3-betting them IP).

if you can spot all types but one, you can spot this one by exclusion

Browsing through your hand histories makes me wonder that you might not be aware these games are possibly play money. Have you ever tried to cash out? - Kapol

raise size, bet size, lack of fishy lines, how well they v-bet, what kinds of hands he shows down with in raised pots, etc.

ppl who don't call a lot but will usually only enter a pot when they are the ones raising

The only hands a nit balances in his range are the nuts, the second nuts, and the third nuts.

i have never played with a hud. i tested once a month ago but chose not to do it again, too messy and didnt add anything for me

you can reognize patterns anyway, like "hmm from that spot on that table i've seen a lot of pf raises, time to start 3-betting more than normal"

and regs you should know anyway, you should know their tendencies without a hud

i think it's best to have loose categories for player types. maniac, tag, passive, scared etc.. sooner or later it will stick in your mind.

personally ive always thought current dynamics influence a LOT in poker, and no hud can help you psychoanalyze the current state of the villain who now bombs his stack to you on the river. i'm sure huds help a lot, i mean everyone uses them so im not gonna say it's useless, i just personally prefer to play without.

learn some names (lots of villains so this is not always easy, as you also pointed out), if this comes easy to you, you can start categorizing players. make notes if there are any particularly outrageous tendencies, this can and will help you in future spots and you'll thank yourself later.

sorry i didnt really answer your question about tight/aggs in general. i dunno, just make an extra effort. many tight/aggs will be regs i guess, making it easier to spot them. i dunno

Cool guys. I'll try to use most of this stuff !

Btw Stygg an interesting idea with Huds is...if you don't like the standard vpip etc stats they provide is to let the Hud only display "Useless Stats" ... Such as #Hands, or $Won or Lost, Winrate, etc.

Just check number of tables, 4-8 usually the best ppl, over that, nits, under that, fishier for the most part, unless HU, not full stack fish, limp is fish, play their hands "aggressively" and they're aggressive =p

Yeah I just started using the Search Function to check how many tables they are playing. Can't believe I wasn't using it before.

I don't understand why anyone would want to play at a disadvantage

just get the HUD. I was in refusal mode a while back because I "felt like I was good enough without one". Man up and go buy one because in the long run its helpful and essential for multitabling full ring. I guess you could be fine if you play like 4 tables 6max but......just use a fucking HUD.
