i can sweat you and talk about hands, I'm no Ivey or Durrr but I've been a winning player up to NL25 going from 25$ to a BR of a few grands, somewhat stopped because of RL shit (work+school) but have kept winning tournament side since then, have about 5k in earnings from that 25$ which I got about a year ago, and been playing about 3 years overall, so I might be able to help, drop me a pm with your msn or skype and I'll add you when I come back from work (which is 5pm EST)

If you've never played poker before. Here are some tips to get started.

1. Download the online poker software from pokerstars.net or fulltilt.net (the two biggest online poker sites)
2. Play a lot of cash games/tournaments with the play money they give you until you get a good feel of what a good hand is what types of hands you want to play with.
3. Read some of the beginner articles on this site. I've found that the becoming a winner article is very good for a new player that doesn't know much about the game.
4. When you have played with play money for a long time and feel confident that you at least understand the basics of the game, download the pokerstars.com/fulltilt.com software.
5. Make a $25-$50 deposit. I did $25. Seeing that you are from the United States, all debit/credit cards will be blocked. You will most likely have to use an e-check which will come out of your bank account. I think you can get a visa/mastercard/american express gift card and use that but i'm not entirely sure.
6. Start by playing .01/.02 cash games. If you can't beat the people at these stakes then you have a lot to learn and poker is definitely not for you.
7. DO NOT move to higher stakes unless you have at least 20 buy ins to back it up. (A typical buy in is = to 100 big blinds, so at .01/.02 you would buy in for $2. At .02/.05 you would buy in for $5 etc.) If you move up too fast, YOU WILL GET RAPED. It happened to me .
8. If you are confused with some hands, copy and paste the hand history into the hands box on the right of this site and post the hands on the fourms where you will receive constrctive criticism. Most people will point out how bad you played the hand but this is what helps others to get better.

The short version: Play for free. Get the real money when you think you're ready. Play low stakes. Move up when you work up your bankroll. Post hands on the fourms.

Note: You will not make immediate riches overnight. You will have to play tens of thousands of hands to see significant results. You will also have to deal with terrible bad beats that are part of the game. Play because you want to play the game and love the game. Don't play to make money fast. The riches will come overtime if you keep the right attitude. You will also be giving up a lot of your time to focus on poker. If you can't handle this, get out now and save yourself the pain and suffering.

GOOD LUCK!

edit: its also good if you can find a friend or someone you know who is just starting or slightly better than you. That way you can work together to get better.

just start posting hands and asking lots of questions in the forums. also read through all the hand threads and see what people are thinking.

theres lots to learn here but youre going to have to actively seek it. no ones just gonna come to you on MSN and tell you everything.

Ah I am not that bad I have played on pokerstars for about a month but have played poker at actual tables.

On poker stars I was doing .5/.10C which I would do pretty good (would do really really good at times then do really really bad other times). I think I am pretty inconsistent or lucky whichever you want to call it . But I do find I enjoy tournament play more idk why I just find it alot more fun :D. Thanks though for the advice

play less hands, bluff less, fold more. The end.

PM me your MSN name if you need any help with micro stakes. I am still learning as well, but have been improving significantly lately and about to move up from NL10 to 25

I would also recommend playing rush poker on FTP to cut your teeth, you'll get to see a ton of hands and get used to playing a very tight aggressive style without getting bored and venturing into hands you otherwise shouldnt, which is probably a big struggle with beginning players.
