I need to set up a CCTV system and it's really expensive to buy whole systems which would be easy to set up. I'm thinking of getting the cameras and receiver and some funny card from hong kong on ebay which goes in a computer and a shit laptop and a 1tb external hard drive. Does this make any sense? Does anyone have any ideas? I'm a bit of a techno-noob, but I can pick things up very quick. Cheers. Free burgers to anyone who helps me!

Researchers used brain scans to show that when straight men looked at pictures of women in bikinis, areas of the brain that normally light up in anticipation of using tools, like spanners and screwdrivers, were activated. | |

I have no idea what you're trying to do or if my suggestion is in the same vein. But there's a site (and other free software) that you stream your webcam feeds and it automatically detects movements and gives you a summary of it when you get home.
for example vitamin d |

Explain what you will be using these for Oly, because you might be able to just use a $20 webcam + usb extension cord + pc/laptop and record like months worth of video to a standard 40-80gb harddrive. There is software out there which will trigger the recording to begin when it detects motion and so forth. |

Yes that's exactly what I want. it's for the late night license, we have to have cameras recording all the time. We could probably wipe the tapes/dvd/whatever every 24 hours. Is it easy to do? |
