Hello!

My name is Steven!

I've been a major donk in the past on online poker. Me and my friend wasted tons of money on my account (probably around ~$3k). I took a great interest of poker in the mean time, however, and was able to recoup a fair bit of it in live games.

I've gone on and off again on online poker, and I've come to realize the importance of bankroll management and choosing appropriate tables. ie: depositing $50 and playing $1/$2 NL is just setting myself up for disappointment.

A few days ago I deposited $60 on the stars and started grinding 9 tables of 0.05/0.10 NL and found that it was actually much easier than I anticipated it would be. I've probably spent ~12 hours grinding so far and I've managed to triple my initial deposit.

What tools should I get to help me multi-table? I've seen so much software suggested, and I see a ton of people generating graphs based on play and I was wondering if someone could point me in the right direction!

I streamed SC2 when the beta was up on teamliquid and I've been streaming my grinding a bit, too. Maybe someone who knows a lot would be interested in observing and giving me some pointers?

Thanks a lot for any help, guys!

Welcome to LP. Streaming yourself playing poker is a pretty bad idea for obvious reasons unless it's just with a few trusted people.

The stream is a little lagged, ~15 seconds. I don't see someone logging onto the stars to track me down on 1 table and try to read my cards while lagged to beat me at a 0.05/0.10 NL game. :x

If I ever move up in stakes, I would stop streaming, though.

Well, IMO you should have $300+ for .05/.10. I'd also suggest playing fewer tables if you're learning how to play.

yea
"I've come to realize the importance of bankroll management a"

and then playing .05/.10 with $60 is a bit lolzy.

i suggest you read some of the articles in the LP archives, especially the ones pertaining to bankroll management.

typically want about 20 buy ins for the stake your at for bankroll management cause one month you will run really bad and need enough to back up your losses. Its going to happen.

I know my bankroll management still isn't the greatest, but the buy-ins I play at are $5 for the .05/.10. I'm up to ~$170 on my bankroll after a couple days of grinding.

What programs do you guys use to track your hand stats?

And I'm assuming all of the "keep playing 1/2" are just trolls?

No one trolls on LP.

People use either Poker Tracker 3 or Holdem Manager to generate graphs, statistics etc. Both have free trials. So try them out and see which one you like. They keep kind of neck and neck with each other in terms of features (unless someone knows otherwise) so it comes down to which one you prefer.
