Brybear22 on ftp
Ee is very interesting stuff. Some of my family works in ee.@I went to a very average school so structural with the option of civil was the best option for me. In hindsight I would probably go into compe or computer science and play poker more. |

Night. When I was in the 7th grade I got this skin disease from a lack of vitamin d aka playing way too much sc and not going outside. I hope that was a good enough story |

There is just no way you got that skin disease from "not going outside" - you got it from horrible diet aka playing way too much SC. |

I am a sound engineer, and we deal alot to do with rigging and hanging PAs. I am still trying to work out how to work out bridals etc. Maybe that is not your area, but what the hell I am bored (currently baby sitting the monitor engineer for Paula Nutuni)
So say I want a speaker to angle down at 2.5 degrees, but I only have two points it is hung from (at each side, not back and front), and from each point there is a bridal which goes to the front and back at each side of the box. This is a chain, which can be adjusted (each link refers to a certain amount of angle which we do not know)).
How do I work out how long each length of chain from the single point to the box needs to be to make the box angle down exactly at 2.5 degrees. Also, say the centre of gravity is not the centre of the box, what modifications need to be taken in to consideration to calculate it.
Hmmm maybe this is more of a maths question. If you are completely lost I will try and get a diagram for you.

I am terrible at explaining things. Here is a quick diagram.
+ Show Spoiler +
So this is side view. The Red line is centre of gravity. And the distance of "A" is 2metres for example. How do you calculate what distance each of the lengths that connect to the single point need to be, if I want the whole thing to point down say 5 degrees.
Or is this like nothing to do with civil engineering? lol :D

Ha it is nothing like it but I could figure it out this seems like the type of problem we used to do in undergraduate mecanics classes like statics. |

Lachlan that is a pretty good question.
First for the midstakes aspect I would not stop or even play less poker. I would recommend going to school but take it slow. We don't know what will happen with poker. It is always possible legislation could make online poker unplayable or something could happen in which the games could become softer. However, for now if you are making money push that as much as possible. More to come... |

I hate waking up early everyday and all of the downtime that exists in the workplace so I would just play poker if I were talented enough to do so.
I have a small of experience in all three of those disciplines. If you want an easy job and like dealing with people and government I would say go into traffic. In general I would say this is the most repitive job and least rrewarding job. In california traffic engineering was the most impacted civil job as far as job cuts during the housing economy bubble. Most of traffic engineering money is fueled by traffic impact reports from private developers.
Between hydro and structures I chose structures however there is probably more money in hydro. A friend of mine got a masters in watersheds/hydrology and is a registered gisp. He worked in private firms for a few years but is now employed by a huge insurance company analyzing floodplains and risk levels. He makes a lot of money doing that.
Fml I type slow on this@phone. More to come.... |
